International Club Crosby » First ICC Online Meeting! » 01/9/2023 8:33 am

I would be glad to attend the meeting, but unfortunately it will be 1:45 am where I am now and also there are some problems with my Zoom which have been there since a couple of years ago, so I have to try to fix it again soon.
So I can just wish you to have a great time.
And I hope to take part in such a meeting when it happens next.

Ian Kerstein,
It's fair for me to say that I haven't  watched "The Country Girl" till the end either, but I'll definitely complete watching it sometime.

I'd like to offer my own ranking too, but it is really hard for me to decide in what order to place the movies. There are a lot of great ones in Bing's filmography, so... I'll make it some other time when I will feel more confident about the placing of the movies I am imagining.))

Film » How about movies? » 23/4/2022 8:10 am

Thanks a lot for your advice, Lobasco.
I think that your ranking is quite fair and these movies are really great.))

Film » How about movies? » 02/4/2022 8:02 am

Ok, that's quite strange, taking the fact that other Bing's shorts are avaliable into the account, but that's all right.
May be it will appear somewhere later.
I guess, we'll find out.

Thanks for the reply, Malcolm.))

Film » How about movies? » 01/4/2022 9:14 am

Now I change the main point of the topic.
I was trying to find Bing's movie "Just an Echo" (1934) and I couldn't find it anywhere.
Can somebody tell me veither it is even possible?

If it is, can you share a link?

Film » Who is your favorite leading lady that starred with Bing in the 1950s? » 09/3/2022 8:05 am

I think, you really should, it would be very interesting.))

There are quite a lot of beautiful and I dare to say, even extraordinary, leading ladies who starred with Bing in 1930s to choose from.
It sure would not be easy to pick one, but I'd give it a shot.))

Film » Movie Of A Month Club » 17/10/2021 2:37 am

I think that's a really good idea.
It's always interesting to talk about Bing's movies, so I'd be happy to join in too.

Film » The Big Broadcast » 25/7/2021 1:57 am

I think so too.

There are a lot of interesting information in this video and the movie itself is really beautiful. I like Bing's song in it, expecially "Here Lies Love". But it will be fair to say that "Please" is a great hit and I like it too.))

Thanks a lot for sharing David Duncan's review, Malcolm!

New and Re-issued materials » VIDEO - AN ESSENTIAL BING CROSBY BIBLIOGRAPHY » 02/7/2021 1:19 am

Thanks a lot, Anton G.-F.!
I asked David Lobosco about books written about Bing nearly a year ago, so it is really interesting for me to know other opinions on this topic.
Also I need to say that you made a very interesting video-research (if I can call it so) and made something like reviews (or plot summaries) on each book, so it will be really helpful for me and all other Bing's fans.)))

Personal Life » Bing interview from 1971 » 11/6/2021 6:36 am

Quite an interesting find!
I do not listen to Bing from 70s very often, but that's nice to listen to him talking about all the things that everyboody want to know at one time. A lot of issues were covered in the interview, so I wonder if there is more interviews like this one.)))
Thanks a lot, Malcolm!

Film » Unknown Rhythm Boys film song discovered » 15/1/2021 7:26 am

Dear Malcolm,
I have no idea how you find this, but the song is great and that's a pity that so little we really know about Bing's early years and as The Rhythm Boys Bing, Al Rinker and Harry Barris were usually uncredited (like their songs) in films.
But I'm glad that we know at least something and can find out more, even about times when he wasn't popular at all.
Thanks a lot, Malcolm!

General Discussion » CHRISTMAS 2020 AND NEW YEAR WISHES » 25/12/2020 12:46 pm

My dear friends,

I agree with everything that was said earlier and can not say anything more (sometimes it happens).
I think that 2020 was the year that will stay in history and maybe we will all be asked how was it and how it happend so that we survived.
I am sure that Bing would say that if now something (or a lot of things) is (are) not allright, everything will be allright sometime.
He would say that he feels sorry about all the troubles and pain that the humanity faces because of the pandemia, but before he will make some jokes half-funny, half-sad, about everything that happened and still happens.
And also he would sing "White Christmas" and some other beautiful Christmas songs to make everything comfortable.
Now I want to ask you to be positive anyway because there is someting good in every situation.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Stay well and may all your New Years dreams come true Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas (yes, that's from Sinatra's "Christmas Waltz")!
May your days be merry, and bright and may all your Christmases be white!

Quite interesting, Mr Baker!
I wonder what music was played, too (But I think that we know that!)!

Yes, I completely agree with you, Lobosco, that's very sad!
I found out that such a beautiful woman died only couple of hours ago and I simply don't know what to say.
Miss her. Rest in peace, Rhonda Fleming...

International Club Crosby » BING magazine » 15/10/2020 6:50 am

Dear Malcolm,
Thanks very much for information.)))
I'm glad to hear that!)))

Radio » Star Spangled Radio Hour » 06/9/2020 3:25 am

Thanks very much, Richard.
I tried to find old Bing's Broadcasts, made in 30s for a long time, so now I'm glad that there is an opportunity to listen to one of these recordings.
I am really interested in Bing's past as a part of Paul Whiteman's Rhythm Boys, so if recordings don't tell the story, they at least convey the spirit of the time. And it is important  for me.
So, thanks again.
Best wishes,
Tom Joe Mortel

Recording » Bing Sings On YouTube » 04/8/2020 2:12 am

I must say that's very nice!
I think, that  there are quite few archives, where you can find the most of Bing's song.
I'll wait for next uploading!

Others of Note » Tribute to Dixie Lee - Actress & Singer » 01/6/2020 1:54 pm

Ok, I understand you.
My business is to offer and you can agree or refuse. There's nothing wrong with that.)))

Others of Note » Tribute to Dixie Lee - Actress & Singer » 01/6/2020 11:13 am

I think, there are not complite truly biographies about Dixie, but "the 1947 film Smash-up, the Story of a Woman is loosely based on Dixie Lee's life" as Wikipedia and other resources say.
Also I can try to make some article about her tomorrow or two days later, where will be the most facts about her, which are avaliable to read and to find now. May be it will be a short alternative of biography, if it is possible to say so. It's hard to believe, but sometimes she was better known and mor famous than her husband and also hard to believe that she was nearly invisible after marriage and appeared only in few movies after that (the same story is about radio programs). She lived only for her family and kept private life in a secret. Some facts are in Gary Giddins's books and some in Bing's "Call me lucky". That's all I can tell you now quickly.

Others of Note » Tribute to Dixie Lee - Actress & Singer » 01/6/2020 2:35 am

I love how Bing and Dixie look together, they are I think one of the most interesting and beautiful couple in Hollywood. They are some kind two people who were ment to each other.
For a week, or more, I try to find as much information about Missis Lee Crosby, as I can, but it is really very few facts about her, except that she was better known and famous than Bing, when they met and get married, so she helped her husband with his career, and it was her choice to end her own, to stay at home with children.
Bing wrote a lot of touching words about her, but she was not peoples' person, so she was his wife and didn't need others. I think that it means only that only Mr. Crosby and his family knew everything about her and now we can, mostly only guess what kind of woman she was and suggest alot about her.
Her voice is great and nobody have voice like her, so it is sad that thre isn't many recordings of songs she sung alone or with Bing.
Also I found that there are different opinions about her birth date, because some resources insist on saying that she was born in 1911, while others are saying about 1909 and it made me to try to find some documents and I think that old Harry L. Crosby-Wilma Winifred Wyatt marriage license, certificate of marriage are anough truly to trust. There is written that Bing married Dixie in 29 September 1930, when she was 19 and he was 26 (It means Missis Lee Crosby was born in 1909.)
I wish to learn more and won't stop now.)))

Film » Bing sings on film in the '40s and '50s » 26/5/2020 4:52 am

All of these songs are beautiful, I like them.
"Little one" is the song that captured my heart finally, it have and had (and I think, will have) the biggest influence on me, it is really impressive!

Film » How about movies? » 24/5/2020 2:29 am

Thank you very much for your advices.
I'll compulsory watch  these movies.)))

Film » How about movies? » 23/5/2020 2:31 pm

I just ended watching "Here comes the Groom" as you adviced me and it was really funny, beautiful and nice because I like the story "Pygmalion" by Bernard Show and these two things are alike, some way! Also it was really amazing when the Great Band (Dorothy, Phill, Louis and others) was singing with Bing.
Any other ideas?
It will be interesting for me to hear/to read any of them.

Film » How about movies? » 22/5/2020 1:39 am

I want to ask you a little question: "What's your fovourite Bing Crosby's film?"
There are a lot of them but I, peronaly, watched very few, so it will be interesting for me to hear any answer you can give. I watched "Robin and the 7 Hoods" (1964), "High Society" (1956), "Going my way" (1944), "Bells of St. Mary's"(1945), the all the "Road to..." movies (but by mistake I started with " Road to Morocco" and after watched all other chapters in chronological order), "We're not dressing"(1934), "Going Hollywood" (1933), "Here comes the waves" (1944) and "Wakiki Wedding"(1937).
Maybe you will give me an advice what wo watch next. Most of all I like "Robin and the 7 Hoods", "High Society", "Going my way", "The Road to Utopia", "The Road to Rio","...to Bali", Bond-looking "Road to Hong Kong", "We're not Dressing" and "Going Hollywood".
