I agree Pantelis! Love that song. I love Bing the Crooner. So melting. Nobody sang those Crooner songs like Bing. "For You" with the right arrangements would have been even better. Too bad some songs were not given more attention but there were so many good songs Bing released back then that some were just passed over.

When I hear this song from the second disc on the set, I think of 2 other versions, don't laugh Ian! Lol! Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson in Pursuit to Algiers, he sings it rather nicely and The Little Rascals. Are there any other versions that others here care to mention?

Yes, Pandemics that is very good and so is "The Legendary Years" narrated by Dennis Miller. It is my favorite! But those are available commercially. I was just wondering why the ones I mentioned above are not available commercially. Especially "Remembering Bing" the one I remember seeing after Bing's death. Pantelis, If you need any let me know. If you still have my email contact me there. Carmela

Thanks Alan! That is one of the songs I am referring to. Thanks for your interesting story about the song. I love the Rhythm Boys on that song! I know I heard the line in about 2 other songs. I will have to get back to you on this.

I found out why. Washing clothes took a long time to do back then. Monday was the best day to wash clothes because women did not have to cook on Monday, they used the leftover food from Sunday for dinner. Also washing clothes on Monday helped family to have clean clothes the rest of the week.

I noticed in a couple of old songs they mention Monday as being wash day. Why?

Many years back I put these 2 Bing Documentaries on dvd. Always thought they were very good and wondered why they were never released. They are "Remembering Bing" and "The Life and Legend of Bing Crosby". I don't think they were ever released, I never came across them on DVD or tape. Anyone know if they were ever released or if they will be released in the future? A must see for every Crosby fan. I got them on tape from an old Bing fan back in the 90's and a few years back I recorded them on to dvd. I remembered seeing them on TV after Bing's death when I was 13. A long time ago. Lol!

Yes, Charles and James Fitzsimons. They are in many movies. Charles became a producer after his acting career. Charles was very handsome. Love Maureen O'Hara another red head I like is Ann Sheridan. Barry Fitzgerald's brother Arthur Shields is in the movie too as well as some of John Wayne's children.

Yes, Ian, I remember reading that story as well. I forgot where I read about the guy claiming to be his son but I remember reading it. Yes, Bing and Cagney were on the radio together. I believe in 1938, I had it but lost it. It is hard to find. And they did the Command Performance 1942. Ian, don't worry about correcting me, I encourage it, the old brain ain't what it use to be. Lol! Ian, the best book on Cagney is "Cagney by Cagney", his autobiography.

Ian, Years back a man claimed to be Cagney's biological son. Cagney was unable to have children. He was sterile due to a sickness he had years before. So anyone claiming to be his son picked the wrong guy to be his father. Lol!

What role or character would you choose for Bing or would have liked to see Bing play in a film. I would pick Jesus Christ. Bing's eyes and voice would have been perfect as well as his great use of words. Just picture Bing with long hair and a robe. He could have done the voice of God too in The Ten Commandments. Another one I would choose is Shirley Temple's father. No Ian, not Hugh Hefner Lol!

Ian, You are a funny chap! So now you know I like to read in the pool (I guess books were waterproof editions!) and I take a shower with James Cagney. Don't know if I can show my face at next meeting, better I stay embarrassed in the dark. I look better in person anyway. Good luck with your eye test Ian! Wonder what is causing you eye trouble Hef? Lol!

At one time I did a lot of reading, especially when I had a pool back in Brooklyn. I would float in a tube and read and then do pool excersizes. Anyway, I read all three of Kathryn's books that way and I read them 2 or 3 times each. I told Kathryn this, she thought it was funny and amazing. Anyway, that was a long time ago but I remember the books as being a good read not only did we get intimate and personal sides of Kathryn and Bing but very humorous ones. When I read books more than once that means I enjoyed them. I had them autographed by Kathryn. I love the photo of Bing on the cover of "My Life with Bing". Very handsome picture of Bing. Ian and Pantelis, love reading your take on things, you both have a way with words, both of you very gifted.

I would pick Cloon( Bing called her that) because she was very good in White Christmas and I love that movie second would be Coleen Grey from another movie I like a lot Riding High because I liked the character she played and she played it well. Grace Kelly was beautiful and a great actress but I did not care for her.

David, One of my favorite movies is with Mary Martin and Bing. "Rhythm on the River". Mary was excellent with Bing in this movie. Even in "Birth of the Blues", loved when she whistled with Bing on " Wait till the Sun Shines Nellie". I also loved the chemistry between Bing and Joan Caufield and Rhonda Flemming. I did not care for Joan Fontaine, I liked her sister Olivia much better. But Olivia didn't make any movies with Bing. Too bad. So Mary Martin is my first choice followed by Caulfield and Flemming.

David, I love Carole Lombard. Unique and brave lady. Also very beautiful! I read a book a few years back about her and the crash. "Fireball" I believe was the name of it. Excellent book.

Pantelis, I have all of John Wayne's movies and even the colorized versions that came out. I have the colorized version of Fort Apache. Shirley Temple was excellent in it too. Great cast. I have all of her movies too. Wee Willie Winkie is a Shirley Temple movie that John Ford directed and is her favorite of all the movies she made. It is my favorite of hers too. Victor McGloglan is excellent in this movie! I know many men avoid Shirley Temple movies but give this one a chance. Great movie! I agree Pantelis Ford's locations were spectacular!

Pantelis, I too would choose Mary Carlisle and then Madge Evans( I am a big fan of hers). Mary and Bing had some steamy scenes in College Humor. Both very sexy!
