'Bing and Ella' - new release streaming April 25

Not sure if anyone has posted about this yet, but another new streaming release is out from the Crosby estate. This one is called "Bing & Ella" and features a set of remastered recordings of Bing with Ella Fitzgerald from his radio shows.

Crosby experts, how many of these were previously available? And is the remastering quality better?

Here is the press release announcing the album - it's part of a new series:

THE ESTATES OF BING CROSBY AND ELLA FITZGERALD CELEBRATE JAZZ APPRECIATION MONTH WITH BING & ELLA DUETS ALBUM

WELCOMING THE FIRST RELEASE OF THE NEWLY ANNOUNCED

“BING & FRIENDS” DUETS SERIES

AVAILABLE NOW ON ALL STREAMING PLATFORMS!

NEW YORK, NY (April 25, 2023) – In honor of Jazz Appreciation Month, the estates of Bing Crosbyand Ella Fitzgerald have joined forces to bring fans the ultimate duets album, Bing & Ella. The album features eight unforgettable classics like “That’s-A-Plenty,” “Istanbul (Not Constantinople)” and more, that blend the masterful stylings of Crosby and Fitzgerald into a package fit for any jazz enthusiast or classic music lover. Staying true to the golden age of jazz, the album includes remastered original versions of Bing and Ella’s duets, sourced directly from recordings from Bing’s radio shows throughout the 1940’s and 50’s. While bootleg versions of select tracks had previously been available to stream, this is the first time the collection will see an official, high-quality release on DSP’s. Available now on all streaming platforms, the release comes just in time for a trifecta of celebratory milestones, including what would have been the birthday of Ella Fitzgerald (April 25th), International Jazz Day (April 30th), and what would have been Bing Crosby’s 120th birthday (May 3rd).

“We are beyond excited to share these duets featuring Dad and the incredible Ella Fitzgerald,” said Mary Crosby on behalf of the Bing Crosby Estate. “It’s such a wonderful tribute to both of their legacies and we can’t wait to share the magic that they created together with jazz lovers everywhere!”

Bing & Ella marks the first of several exciting releases in part of the “Bing & Friends” series to come from the estate. A nod to Bing Crosby’s history of iconic duets, this latest project applauds Crosby’s artistry and musical partnerships with other pivotal artists through the years. Throughout his extensive music career, Crosby has sung with the likes of David Bowie, Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Peggy Lee, and more.

In celebration of Bing’s 120th birthday, Primary Wave Music and the estate will continue to rollout additional projects honoring Crosby’s great legacy and collection of remarkable hits. 2023 has so far seen two new releases, including Bing Crosby’s Irish Songbook in March and A Valentine from Bing in February, with even more to come throughout this momentous year. In addition, fans of Crosby can also be on the lookout for other celebratory initiatives including Pandora’s specially curated pop-up radio station throughout the month of May, and an exclusive SiriusXM “Bing & Ella” radio special on “Crosby’s Corner” in conjunction with the album release.

Re: 'Bing and Ella' - new release streaming April 25

All of the tracks, except Stay With The Happy People, sound better than what was previously available in an official capacity in the Swingin’ With Bing set. Memphis Blues sounds identical to the Bing In Dixieland release. It was, overall, a very solid release.
