Your favorite/definitive Bing Christmas releases
Well, I took the plunge and ordered the Crosby Christmas sessions so eloquently discussed in this thread:
Now, my question to you is what are your favorite Crosby Christmas releases? It's hard to avoid CDs with weird faux-stereo, poor transfers or digital shenanigans, as well as CDs that basically just want to throw White Christmas on a disc and call it a day.

I think you've done well to buy that issue.
A very good set of two CDs covering ALL of Bing's Christmas songs recorded for Decca - is MCA CD: MCAD2-11840 — BING CROSBY - THE VOICE OF CHRISTMAS. and it should be possible to find it still. I have seen in the fairly recent past listed on the sites of several vendors, and here on Amazon
You'll have a number of different versions of some songs but it is complete and enjoyable, particularly if you want a prolonged background of Christmas music on Christmas day!
There were a number of seasonal songs recorded post -Decca but you will have some of them on the "Christmas Sessions" CD
Others are a little more difficult to find.
BUT as you have said that you intend to try to get the "Chronological" series (big job!), you will wind up with duplication, the Christmas titles
being scattered through the whole sequence.

'The Secret of Christmas' is my favourite non-religious song. The words are great and have a lot of meaning.
'Andeste Fedelis' the religious favourite.
At Marist Brothers we had a Brother Fedelis'. We nick named him Fiddles.

I agree that the "Voice of Christmas" is the way to go here as far as CD's go. Splendid remastering done by the great Steve Hoffman.

I totally agree with everyone else that The Voice of Christmas is the way to go when it comes to Bing's Decca Christmas recordings on CD. I bought that compilation when it was first released, and it remains my favorite. As a matter of fact, I've published a review of it here:

Actaully, I've had CDR's of the album that I ripped online years ago. I just saw a "new" copy of the 2CD set on Amazon for $7.32. I bought it figuring it was well worth having actual CD's plus I am sure the liner notes are good, too.

The liner notes to The Voice of Christmas are excellent, in my opinion. They're well written, well researched, informative, and highly readable, just as good liner notes should be!
