Hi everyone!
I just wanted to let you know that I just published a new article in my classic jazz blog, The Vintage Bandstand, about a vocalist who has a slight Crosby connection—Skinnay Ennis. Besides being a contemporary of Bing's, Ennis rose to prominence as the vocalist of the Hal Kemp orchestra, one of the most popular sweet bands of the 1930s, whose charts were written by John Scott Trotter. Both Ennis and Trotter left Kemp around the same time in the late thirties, Ennis to start a successful solo career, and Trotter, of course, to become Bing's musical director. Here's the link to my brief article on Ennis, if anyone is interested:
Warm regards,
Anton G.-F.
