I remember hearing a rap,hip hop or disco version of Bing Christmas songs last year. Bing singing but with a background beat. I couldn't hear it too well, I was in the Mall. Anyone know anything about it?

It looks like there is a group called The Showboys, in whose song "That's What I Want for Christmas" there is a sample of Bing's "White Christmas." I am not sure if that's the song that you heard at the mall, but here is the YouTube video for it:

There's a pretty popular remix of "Happy Holidays" that I tend to hear a lot in the mall around Christmas time; my guess is that's it. Here it is on Youtube:

Why mess with the original?

Yes, Richard, why mess with it. But at least it's a way to get younger people more aware of tghe Great talent known as Bing Crosby.

I agree, Richard—why mess with the original? I'd like to think that when these rap artists sample a song by Bing (which will always be "White Christmas," because I can't imagine anyone sampling "Please" or "We'll Make Hay While the Sun Shines," for example) it's because they like that song, and it's a way to show their appreciation for it. However, I am not sure that this is the case, mostly because my knowledge of rap/hip hop is nil...

I cannot remember the song (THANK GOD!) but I heard a similarly altered song by Ella while shopping last week. Purely dreadful!!!!!
