SADLY AFTER 16 YEARS, BOARDHOST HAS DECIDED TO ELIMINATE THE FREE FORUM OPTION, AND THIS BOARD WILL HAVE TO BE A PAID BOARD AS OF SEPTEMBER 26TH. There has been a lot of interest keeping this board going. Let me know if you are interested in helping with this board. The more people that give, the cheaper it will end up being. Contact me if you are interested.

I would be happy to support too. PayPal would be my preferred way to transfer money: it's international, it's free, it's reliable, making an account goes fast and it works very easy - used it many times.

Yes, PayPal is indeed a very convenient way for international payments. I use it also and I found it very helpful.

I am just so delighted members are coming forward to enable our wonderful board to continue. Surely, it is the ideal for us to financially contribute so we can at least both maintain the forum's continuity and also not lose all the previous messages of years standing , many of which contain beautifully written information and wonderfully informed opinions and conversations.

I agree, Ian. it's also nice to see that it seems like it revitalized the board talk a bit!

Yes I tend to use PayPal but happy to use Venmo. Please let me know final yearly tally for each of us and who to send the funds through to. Cheers, Dave.

Yes, I agree this has been the case. I must admit of late, I've been neglecting and taking it for granted as I should not have done.

David, et al.,
Thanks for all the work you have done administering this forum, David!
I would also be willing to contribute to its continuation.
I read about the board's possible imminent demise in "Bing". I have to admit I haven't used it as regularly lately, but I do still check it, search out information in old conversations and occasionally post.
A few thoughts:
1. With people willing to chip in, it does seem that keeping this existing forum going would be the easiest way forward.
2. I have used PayPal and Zelle, and could probably use Venmo, if necessary. I think I would prefer to pay less frequently, and of course get any discounts.
3. I definitely agree that loosing all the valuable threads in this forum would be a shame. I do sometimes search old conversations for detailed discussion on various topics. I am curious what you will find out from their webhost about archiving.
4. I also agree that moving to a new service could be disruptive and we could lose momentum, as well as losing all the existing conversations. If there is a way to move the existing database to a new, free service, that might be nice, but perhaps a lot more trouble than just paying to continue the existing forum.
5. I have been attending the ICC Zoom meetings, and I was hoping those might generate more activity on this forum. I love the Zoom meetings, but there are so many great presentations and time is limited, so there isn't really an opportunity for in-depth discussion. It would be nice if some of the topics raised there would turn into conversations that are continued here. It seems like there could be a good synergy.
Cheers,
Jim

Okay we have about 54 days left to work everything out. Recently, my checking account was hacked and compromised so I had to get rid of venmo and paypal. Would someone be willing to take the money through their paypal and then send me a check and I would then puchase the plan? Let me know your thoughts.

Hello David,
I don't have Paypal, either but I have a Western Union account and would be happy to do so from there if that is possible?

I'm not sure how that works. I currently don't have Venmo, Paypal or any of those wire services.

It's very similar to PayPal. It's a worldwide, online money exchanging service.
Here's a link to it:

I find it extremely reliable and it operates without any fuss.
Smaller international payments don't seem to charge a transfer fee.
I have used it for a number of years, internationally, mainly for payments to a some friends in The Philippines, Uruguay and Kenya and it has a wide international reach.
I've never had any problems with such things as missing payments.
