New Crosby Brothers release-The Ed Sullivan Show

The Ed Sullivan Show YouTube channel made available two previously unreleased video with Bing’s sons Philip, Denis and Lindsay (Gary didn’t appear on those shows). Both Bing and Dixie had musical talents and it seems that their 4 boys inherited the family voice. There isn’t a point in comparing anyone with Bing, but the boys had fine vocals and some of that Crosby charm.

This is from the The Ed Sullivan Show that aired live in May 7, 1961, it is a medley of Bing’s hits with a humorous introduction.

For the history, the four Crosby sons formed a vocal group that sometimes was billed as Crosby Boys or Crosby Brothers. The boys were always exposed in show business first through their father radio shows and they all made their first movie appearance in Duffy’s Tavern in 1945.
Gary was the first to pursuit a solo career as a singer (with a golden record for his duet Play A Simple Melody and Sam’s Song), as radio host of CBS Gary Crosby Show and as an actor (he was a 20th Century Fox contract player) and had perhaps the most successful career of the four, co-starring in popular movies in early 60s, recording for Decca, performing with his father, Louis Armstrong, Sammy Davis Jr and with his brothers.
In 1958 the Crosby’s were featured on the cover of Life magazine. And they started making a series of TV appearances on prime time shows of the era. Finding huge success in Las Vegas and New York City’s top nightclubs appearing famously on Cartier Latin and Desert Inn. They also played together minus Gary on the Rat Pack movie 3 Sergeants and all of them they recorded some records produced by Project Records. The group ended its activities in 1962 after significant success and recognition on the live performances field.
Philip follow it with a successful solo act on TV and in nightclubs for many years and appeared with Bob Hope on USO tours in Vietnam. Gary never worked full time again, but he appeared in many TV series playing guest stars or recurring characters and occasionally singing. Dennis retired from show business and he was involved with Bing Crosby Productions. Lindsay didn’t pursuit a solo musical career, but he made a handful movie’s appearances some of them on successful pictures but most of them on low budget films.

Re: New Crosby Brothers release-The Ed Sullivan Show

Thanks Pantelis, I will look at videos later on today. I always liked their singing. I have some of their recordings. And thanks for all the info! I knew a few things about them but not all you mentioned.
