A Great Aunt who was a singer
I have a Great Aunt who I never met. She was becoming a famous singer back in the 30's but she got Lukemia and died. She was just a teenager but she was starting to appear on radio at the time. I do not know much more about her but she lived in Red Hook Brooklyn and I think was buried in her wedding dress because she was getting married soon. Maybe if she had lived she would have became famous and would have met Bing. I wish I knew more about her.

That is very interesting Carmela, did you know her name?
Was she in vaudeville or live performances circuit or she recorded? Do you know her name or her music style?
Is she on your maternal or paternal side?

Pantelis, Her name was Louise Pisano, she was my mother's aunt, her mother's youngest sister. I wish I knew more about her and I wish she lived longer. I believe she was buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn. That is all I know.

Wow, I searched about her and I didn't find anything, I located a certain Louise Pisano that she was born in 1923 and died in 1939 in King County (That's Bookly I think). I don't know if it is your aunt, she died indeed very young, old census tend to be inreliable in minor details, and the story with the wedding dress is indeed very interesting. Some of her radio work might survive but it is very difficult to trace it.
It would have been nice if she had lived and had the chance to record and collaborate with Bing!
From the Pisano Family History on sortedbyname.com there was another Louise Agnes Pisano born in 1918 and died in 2006, her parents name were Michael and Carmela. They were also from Brooklyn. They could be related to you and her, as Carmela is not a very common name, it means garden i think from a biblical mountain, it is the same origin with Carmel in California where Bing moved his tournament and gathered money for the Bing Crosby Carmel Youth Center.

Pantlelis thanks! I could not find much either. Maybe if I go through some old Brooklyn Newspapers from that time? She was about 16 when she died. I know years back I found ( in a Brooklyn paper) the story of the New Years Eve fire that killed my Grandmother and her daughter back in 1952. When I get time, I will continue the search. Thanks for your help. That may be her the one you found in King's County, Brooklyn.
