Dear all,
During the online ICC meeting for June, it was my pleasure to do an hour-long presentation on Bing Crosby's contributions to country music, illustrated by a number of recordings made between the thirties and the seventies. Yesterday I took the recording of that presentation, which is part of the meeting, and turned it into a separate video that only includes the presentation and the music in an audio-only format. If you're interested in listening to it, here's the link:
Thanks, and I hope you enjoy it!

Very nice idea. I am sure everybody will enjoy it tremendously. It was indeed a great presentation with very nice songs selections.
Thanks Anton.

Thanks Anton! I enjoyed it very much! I came across it the day before you mentioned it here, I am always on Youtube. I watch Mass from St Patrick's, Steelers news, Gutfeld, Judge Judy and all Anton's Bing postings. Lol!

Thank you, Pantelis and Carmela! I am glad that you both enjoyed the presentation, and I had a great time preparing it and delivering it. My intention is to turn it into an article for BING Magazine at some point. I am also planning to do a similar presentation on Bing and Latin American music for the next season of online meetings that will start in September after our usual break in August.
Best wishes to both of you. Have a great summer!

Listened again last night to the two CDs that came out on Jasmine of cowboy songs Bing really fitted in well with the songs from that genre Geoff Milne did a good mastering job on those CDs as well.

Stepo, I absolutely agree: those are two very good CDs to give a listen to Bing's contribution to the popularization of country music in the 1930s and '40s. Not only do they offer studio recordings, but also live cuts from his radio appearances, which was another very important way in which Bing showcased some of these country songs during his heyday as a radio star. Both volumes are very recommendable, and the sound is very good.

"Bing Sings The Great Country Hits" album from 1965 i consider to be one of his best albums from the 1960s although there are some who disagree as i am also a fan of traditional country music i feel that Bing sings those songs well and is really into the music.

I also like traditional country music, and for several years I hosted a traditional country music radio show on station WRVU in Nashville. I also rate Bing Sings the Great Country Hits very highly among his late-career albums, even if reportedly he was suffering from a cold while he recorded it.

Bing may well have had a cold but it didn't sound like it to me his singing of the classic country songs on this album i think was excellent if Capitol weren't too busy at the time being very occupied with both The Beach Boys as well as The Beatles whose records came out on Capitol in the United States i think the record could have sold as well as the Ray Charles and the Nat 'King' Cole albums in the Country genre but Capitol also delayed the release as it was recorded before the "Travelling Two Beat" album with Rosemary Clooney and Billy May but released after that album.
