So much negative assumption about the 3rd volume!!!  Why assume that it hasn't already been written?!?
It's entirely possible that Mr. Giddins finished writing the entire book and was asked to split it into a 2nd and 3rd volume by the publisher.  Better to release a 600-page book than a 1,500-page one.  If that's the case, Volume 3 will follow within a year or two.

So this is great news but at the same time DARN!

I have really expanded my Crosby collection from a couple of albums to maybe a couple of dozen over the last 12 months! One of the albums I bought were a Twofer on CD of this New Tricks and Fine Old Chestnuts... and now I wonder if I'll need to buy both again

For the cost of 3-4 coffees from Starbucks, buy it anyways and support the cause.

I'd like to add that between the Mosaic box and the subsequent 10 CCM/iTunes releases, a full 90% of the Buddy Cole tracks are now available in pristine sound.  That's quite an accomplishment.  On the downside, it doesn't appear that these 10 releases are available for digital download.  I don't normally download music, but I'm certainly not going to pay 10 bucks for the Dixieland CD, for example, to buy 1 song.

My 4th posting today... hope you're not sick of me yet!

I am working on building my own Access database for cataloguing my Bing/Frank/Ella/Doris/Rosemary/Peggy/Dean/Nat/Mel collection.  I'm going to be using a lot of the information on the discography and the songography on the ICC's website.  Is either available in an .xls document (or other format)?  Would make my data entry easier if I could format the data to my liking.  If not, I totally understand.  Doesn't hurt to ask.
Thanks from rainy Vancouver,
Greg

The Old-Time Radio Researchers Group is a group that assembles complete runs of old radio shows, in the best possible sound, and gives them a 'certification'.  Many of their certified shows are available on www.archive.org

One of them is the Crosby-Clooney show.  I downloaded them, in 4 zipped files, and was disappointed when the I sampled the quality.  The speed is so slow that Bing & Rosie's voices are nearly unrecognizable.

Is anyone familiar with this copy of the show?  Are they available elsewhere at the proper speed?

Thanks,
Greg

***sorry in advance if this is a verboten topic.  The legality of radio show downloading is murky to me and I don't see any notes on this forum about the appropriateness of discussing the downloading of these shows.

Hi again!
A lot of Bing's music has been released recently on CD and I'm wondering if anyone has a list of what has NOT yet been released.  I could stumble through creating such a list on my own, but I thought I'd ask if anyone has this info at their fingertips.

The Decca recordings are covered by the Sepia and Jonzo series, a bunch of the latter-day LP's are covered by the recent CCM releases, the Mosaic box covers a good chunk of the Buddy Cole recordings.  The list is (happily) getting smaller and smaller.

To make the list even smaller and easier, I'm not too concerned about the LP's, such as That's What Life Is All About, etc.  They're easy enough to document.  I'm more interested in having a list of non-LP studio tracks, post-Decca.

Feel free to direct me to Jarbie's discography.  Just thought I'd ask you guys and girls first.

Thanks,
Greg

PS- and as for what's available on CD, I'm referring to CD's that are current and easily available online.  If a song is available on some obscure British CD from 20 years ago, I consider it M.I.A. and it qualifies for my list.

Hello everyone
I've been a long-time lurker on various Bing forums over the years and decided today to sign up here.  I'm 35, and my interest in Bing recently spiked skyward with the Mosaic boxed set.  Such a fantastic collection!

I'm an avid collector of Bing's music and I hope to pick the brains of the various experts on the forum over the coming weeks.  I look forward to chatting with you all.  If there are any other members in the Vancouver area, please get in touch!

Thanks,
Greg

Hi everyone
I'm in love with my Mosaic boxed set and I'd like to collect the rest of the Buddy Cole recordings,  From reading thru the discography, the balance of these recordings are scattered across many, many CDs.  So, short of going thru the discography line by line, is there an easier way to collate a list of all the CD's I need to buy?  I'm looking for a list of CD's, each indicating the number of recordings contained therein that are NOT on the Mosaic set.

For example:
On the Sentimental Side (4)
Shall We Dance (iTunes only) (12)
etc.
etc.

I'd also like to know how many are still in the vault and not available on any CD.

Thanks so much!
-Greg
