New CD 'Bing Crosby & Buddies'
A new or newish (released July this year) has recently come to my attention. It's on the 'Retrospect' label.
I have not yet got it but this source normally does a very good job. There is nothing unusual here but it is a very nice mix of 53 tracks covering many years, with, as the title suggests, many of Bing's long term collaborators.

That is a very good combination of songs, however I won't be buying it as I think I have them all through Jonzo, Sepia and other albums.
Though it would be a good one to buy for my niece, who is now a member of ICC. I rejoined her in Leeds.

Nice selection. Richard, are any of the songs somewhat rarer than the others among Bing CD compilations? I think I know nearly all of them, but some I know from LPs not necessarily CDs.
Anything that reminds people of what a good duet artist Bing was is a good thing, in my opinion. Though a couple of the tunes, like "A Long, Long Time" have only Bing's voice....though Les Paul's guitar is rather like a voice.

Steve, most are pretty well known but a few - 'Dolores' for example - don't crop up all that often, and some of the later tracks, whilst very frequently played and heard have not until recently appeared in such a mixture in company with older material. The issue, which I have now seen and sampled, is well engineered and comes with full discographical information, including information on the origins of the songs. Personnel information is given for many tracks.
The items that originated in stereo are in good stereo, but possibly slightly lacking in the very last word of upper end sparkle. The sound restoration was done by Alan Bunting who has done much similar work for the Retrospective label and others. Each of the two CDs run to over 79 minutes. Most fans will have all of these tracks but it is nonetheless highly recommendable.
