Bing the jazz singer.

A few years ago, while I was living in France, I bought a 25-CD set on the Le Chant du Monde label entitled Une Histoire du Jazz Vocal - 'The Story of Vocal Jazz'. There are more than 600 tracks in chronological order from Sophie Tucker in 1911 to Tony Bennett in 1959. Bing is represented by just three tracks. What do you think they might be? They were all recorded between 1929 and 1933. Although that narrows it down quite a bit, there's still a lot to choose from, so I'll allow lists of 10 tracks per person and see if anyone's list contains all three of the tracks contained in the set. During this period, Bing was working with some of the most celebrated sidemen of all time and in at least one of the tracks chosen I think the compilers' decision was as much influenced by the accompanying ensemble as by Bing's vocal contribution.

No cheating, please..! No Googling, and if you happen to own the set, you're barred from entering!!

Just to make it a wee bit more interesting, I'll send the first person who gets all three right by March 1st a selection of Bing goodies. The answer will be revealed on March 2nd. Good luck..!

Re: Bing the jazz singer.

Only three - that is hard. How about...

1. My Kinda Love
2. After You've Gone
3. Black Moonlight
4. Dinah
5. Them There Eyes
6. Some Of These Days
7. St. Louis Blues
8. My Honey's Loving Arms
9. Brother Can You Spare A Dime
10. Please

Sounds like an interesting collection of recordings. I like Sophie Tucker, but is she really jazz?
