Phil Harris - Brother Can you Spare A Dime

When you think of Phil Harris you do not think of him singing a serious song of dispair like "Brother Can You Spare A Dime", but he did a nice version of the song on a radio remote from 1933...

I agree. Phil was a much better personality that singer. Also his band is pretty good. It's like Vaughn Monroe. I always liked Monroe as a singer but forgot he had a band for a long time.

There was a reason Bing counted Phil as one of his best friends, I bet Phil was a riot to be around!

Hmm, that was something unexpected.   He made a pretty good straight singer at that.  I still like him better as a character singing his wild songs.   His big band was pretty straight forward but sounded good.  His real talent was his personality and his lively songs even his serious songs like "Nobody" still had a funny side to them.  Thanks for playing that.

I also put that on my Internet Archive recording for easy downloading as an Mp3.
