The Birth Of The Blues - January 18, 1951
One of the better radio adaptation of a film was of The Birth Of The Blues by the Screen Guild Players. There was more great jazz music in the radio broadcast than in the movie.
The radio show starred Bing, Dinah Shore, Phil Harris, and Red Nichols.

Thanks David for enabling me to hear those versions of the songs for the first time. I see from Malcolm's BING CROSBY. DAY BY DAY that the excellent accompaniment was by Red Nicholls and his Five Pennies. As usual. you found some beaut photos to go with the music and I don't recall seeing a photo of such a young Phil Harris before. Did you know that Harris was in Australia in 1927 playing drums with Carroll Lofner's Orchestra?
