I think I am the only one interested in what Bing songs everyone is listening to.

Here are the first five Bing tracks on this Wednesday:
1. Nevertheless (from the Feels Good, Feels Right album)
2. From Monday On (Rhythm Boys)
3. South Of The Border (1965)
4. The Day You Came Along
5. What I Did For Love

I've enjoyed reading your Bing listening pleasures.   15 or so years ago I learned how to put many of my CDs onto me computer at work.  When I retired I then bought a computer for me own and this time I put a lot more CDs onto it, but still not everything.  But I put a whole variety of artists and great classic instrumentals, classic jazz, country music, movie and TV soundtracks, great classic TV & cartoon background music and  pop music of favorite artists of the 30s to 70s and rock.

But I put them in "Playlists" so there are instrumentals all together and other type music grouped together including a playlist with everything.   I do have more Bing CDs on my computer than any other artist but not all my Bing CDs.   It sounds to me, Dave, that you may have put all your Bing CDs on your computer with such a mixture of Bings, radio songs and the rest.   I have with the playlist including Bing, Phil Harris, Vaughn Monroe, Peggy Lee, Rosie, Al Jolson, Bill (Fred) Frawley's  album, Walter Brennan lps, Jo Stafford, Dean Martin and well so many many more I can't list them all here.

But the good thing about this is anytime you want to hear good music just flip on the computer and all your favorite music will pop up in a "random" play order.   This has been a dream come true for me, I have my own radio station that NEVER plays crap I don't like, I never again have to constantly be hitting the change button looking for a station to listen to and never any commercials.  Nothing but one great song after another.  I love this technology, I really only wish I had had this 40 years ago, so much good music I only wished I could have heard back then when driving or just to turn on and enjoy a wide variety of all your favorites.  It's marvelous.

Hi Lee,
It's nice to have music without the commercials. I have Pandora on my car currently, and it's better than the regular radio stations - and in Pittsburgh there are no radio stations that play our music! On my computer at home I have most of the Bing, Buddy Clark, Jo Stafford on there now. I keep physical CDs still as a back up, but for the most part I just play CDs on my computer or I upload particular recordings to You Tube and I have a playlist there.

For work, we are not allowed to download or have music files on our computer, so I have a little mp3 player that I can use that holds hundrededs of recordings. So I listen to that - I just have Bing on that one, so I get a day of Bing Crosby at work each day! (In between working of course!)

I don't use Pandora (I don't need it, I have so many CDs I use those or my downloads) but I do use the very small Mp3 Sony "Walkman" player in my car.  I downloaded from my computer onto the Mp3 player 1000's of songs (not all on the computer, but a lot of it) so when driving that's when I use my Mp3 player but when at home it's the computer with so many of my CDs on it that I use for the great variety of music to hear.  One of the things I like about it is the "Random" play feature, you never know what song or artist you're going to hear next, just one great different song after another and never a need to "switch the station" which I used to do constantly in the bad old days.   You're right, as far as radio today, there is NOTHING, no good music at all that you will find on radio today.  If it weren't for my Mp3 player I'd go back to listening to old time radio shows as I used to listen to on cassette in the car when driving home from work.

You have a good little set up going. With having two little kids, it seems like I listen to more music in the car and at work than home, but last night after the kiddos went to bed, I listened to music on the computer from 9 to about 11:15. It was therapeutic!

The last time I listened to the radio was when I wanted to hear about the baseball game. I know cities like Chicago and New York have at least one nostalgia type station, but there is nothing in Pittsburgh. It's such a shame!

Re: Bing Recordings Listening To Now

Today I listened to Greg Van Beeks' NOSTALGIA RADIO TIME of last Sunday in which he presented a selection of 'songs of love' and if I remember correctly he began with Sing singing "Love is the sweetest thing', which I'd not heard before. Al Bowlly's 1932 recording used to get a lot of airplay on Australian radio 'in the old days'.

Greg really puts on a great show. There is no radio show like that in Pittsburgh.

Bing's version of Love Is The Sweetest thing is from his Buddy Cole radio songs. It's a great version that ranks up there with Al Bowlly's original version. I also like Gogi Grant's version if you get a chance to hear that one.

Archiefit wrote:

Yesterday I listened to the Chesterfield 2/21/51 radio show in honor of George Washington's birthday (this is a show I call a Washington's birthday show even if the only mention of it is in an ad with Ken Carpenter).   At any rate every once in a while when I listen to these great Bing radio shows I hear a song that catches me off guard and I say to myself, now I know I have heard this show before but I don't remember this song at all.  These "unheard" songs I then have got to add to my Media Player Bing music play list.

This past Sunday the head turning song was, "(I Like You) Just The Way You Are" sung with Peggy Lee.  I looked for it in commercial CDs I have but I didn't have it on any commercial CD, just on the CD I created from the radio show tape I recorded to CD 10 years ago.  So tonight I isolated that song and recorded it onto the computer and now have added it to my Bing playlist.  It sounds great (I cleaned up the sound a bit with the marvels of computer sound controls).   Now the speed is exactly right, (the tape version was sped up a hair) I turned up the bass a bit and the crispness or treble turned up a bit too.   Now it sounds better than the original tape version.  Now it's beautiful on the Bing playlist.  By the way, I did research and found this song was ONCE released on CD by Sun Records in 2003, don't know how I missed this but I never knew of this CD till yesterday, now it costs almost $50 on Amazon, thank goodness I'm able to create my own version with the computer.

Other songs I've isolated from radio shows when they struck me as being really great even though I didn't remember ever hearing them before:
I Had A Dream Dear from the 4/13/49 show
Don't Worry About Tomorrow from the 4/10/62 show
Together from the 6/15/44 show
I Promise You from 11/30/44
There's always a pleasant surprise when listening to Bing's radio shows.

Hi Lee,

Yeah Bing sang some great songs on the radio that he never recorded. I loved hearing recordings that other people are listening to. Don't Worry About Tomorrow and I Had A Dream Dear I have never heard of. I Promise You Bing sang in Here Comes The Waves. Now Lee I have to go back and listen to some of my radio recordings!
