Radio Dramas

Is there a list somewhere of the Lux/Screen Guild dramas Bing did?  I've been able to find:

Going My Way
Bells of St. Mary's
Dixie
Road to Morrocco
Holiday Inn

Re: Radio Dramas

There were several others. To the best of my knowledge they were :

SCREEN GUILD
'Altar Bound' primarily starring Bob Hope and Betty Grable but Bing appears to sing 'Frenesi' 23 Feb.1941

'Holiday Inn' 11 Jan. 1943 issued on at least three LPs
'Birth Of The Blues' 13 Sept. 1943
'The Bells Of St Mary's' 26 Oct. 1946
and again 16 Oct. 1947. The latter on two LP issues
'Birth Of The Blues' (again) 18 Jan.1951 issued on a Spokane LP but individual songs have appeared elsewhere.

LUX RADIO THEATRE

'She Loves Me Not' 8 Nov. 1937 (on a Totem LP)
'Sing You Sinners' 15 Jan. 1940 (on a Spokane LP)
'Road To Morocco' 5 April 1943 (on a Radiospirits multiple CD set)
'Dixie' 20 Dec. 1943
'Sing You Sinners' (again) 7 May 1945

More details of the songs and some of the recordings known to me are in my discography here http://www.jazzdiscography.com/Artists/Crosby/Crosby2fRadio.html

I do not claim it is totally comprehensive.

- And 'The Emperor Waltz' (Lux) of 26 September 1949. How could I overlook it?

Re: Radio Dramas

I have at least one Lux back in Aus. but can't think of the name of it.

Re: Radio Dramas

There was also "Welcome Stranger" (Screen Guild) October 14, 1948. This has not appeared on an LP as far as I know. In addition on September 24, 1951 Bing appeared on the Lux Radio Theatre show "Movietime USA" and presented an extract from "Here Comes the Groom".

On February 5, 1939, Bing was in the Gulf Screen Guild broadcast with Jane Withers and sang three songs and then on December 10, 1939, he appeared in the Screen Guild broadcast of "Mr. Jinx Goes to Sea" with Andy Devine.

My researches have indicated that the date of October 16, 1947 on the LP cover for "Bells of St. Mary's" was wrong and it should have been October 6, 1947. Hope this helps.

Ron, I keep thinking there must be some way to reunite you with your records!  Until then, the world continues to be out of balance....

Re: Radio Dramas

Steve,
Don't think I could afford the freight or extra baggage fees to bring them over to the U.S.

Re: Radio Dramas

There is a cd set of some of them called "Bing Crosby on the Radio". I saw some for sale on ebay recently. Ipurchased it a few years ago from RadioSpirits Magazine.

Peace and Love!
