Re: Star Spangled Radio Hour

Problem resolved! Something called uBlock (which I didn't know I had) decided to block ads and active links on the site. Why I don't know and why it has sprung into action at this time is a mystery to me. Disabling it has resolved the problem of getting reactions from Star Spangled Radio Hour. I still get the message on the "Live" stream but the archived streams and the downloads all now work.

I remain puzzled as to when and how uBlock got onto both my computers. It was not a conscious act of mine! An internet search shows that it has a useful purpose but it has been developed since I acquired my computers so I'm mystified.

Re: Star Spangled Radio Hour

Star Spangled Radio Hour is normally devoted to the big bands, Glen Miller tending to dominate, but they do have quite a few of Bing's shows, as past postings here demonstrate.
This week's offering has no Bing, but included among the several short broadcasts there is one with Bob as host, and the Andrews Sisters Maxine, Laverne and and Patty.
"Bob Crosby's Club 15" of April 6 1949,

Re: Star Spangled Radio Hour

The Star Spangled Radio Hour Podcast this week will feature, not Bing, but his former employer, Paul Whiteman from a sequence of 1930s radio shows. Pops is joined by Joan Edwards, Jack Teagarden and the Four Modernaires with three Chesterfield “Rhapsody in Blue” coast-to-coast broadcasts over CBS. This is the series that Whiteman passed to Glenn Miller in December 1939. PAUL WHITEMAN AND HIS ORCHESTRA - Chesterfield “Rhapsody in Blue” Broadcasts

Wednesday, September 14, 1938
Wednesday, September 21, 1938
The podcasts should be available after 6 September.

Re: Star Spangled Radio Hour

Thanks very much, Richard.
I tried to find old Bing's Broadcasts, made in 30s for a long time, so now I'm glad that there is an opportunity to listen to one of these recordings.
I am really interested in Bing's past as a part of Paul Whiteman's Rhythm Boys, so if recordings don't tell the story, they at least convey the spirit of the time. And it is important  for me.
So, thanks again.
Best wishes,
Tom Joe Mortel

Re: Star Spangled Radio Hour

It was good to hear the Whiteman orchestra from 1938 as I had not heard any recordings of it from that era before. A good sound and interesting arrangements. Thanks Richard.
