I've Got The Girl on 78rpm
This 78rpm of Bing's first record must be pretty rare. I have never found a copy of it anywhere - including the internet. If anyone knows where I can buy a copy, please let me know. I would love to get it to complete my 78rpm bucket list!

One was in auction #55 by Nauck
List here
They do crop up occasionally. I suspect you need to look at specialist sites rather than such as eBay.

David, you might be upset to know that Collectors's Frenzy here and eBay here have very recently had them at prices around $65 plus shipping.
The rare version is of course, the first (Columbia D824-D).
Unless I am in error, I believe that the reissue on Columbia 0688 credited Bing.
In Britain it was issued on Columbia 4310 as being by The Charleston Serenaders (a pseudonym usually used for Van Phillips and His Band though also for a number of US groups). Whether purchasers thought that the "serenaders" were the vocal duo or the accompanying band must be open to speculation.

The Australian Columbia 0688 with 'I've got the girl' was labelled as 'The Charleston Serenaders with vocal chorus'. It was released approx. August 1927 and backed by Ted Lewis and his band's 'If you knew Sally'. Lewis must have been a reasoanbly popular artist in Australia at the time as thjirteen of his records were listed in the Columbia catalogue for 1928. The catalogue did not list 0688 in 1929. Brunswick records of 'I've got the girl' by Nick Lucas and by Abe Lyman's Californians were also available in Australia at the time.

Well another copy went up for sale on Ebay. My limit was $90 so unfortunately I lost. It ended up going for $96.

After years of searching and being outbid on Ebay, I FINALLY managed to get a 78rpm copy of "I've Got The Girl" for $42!
Now I have the first record Bing made - in addition to the first record Al Jolson and Eddie Cantor made!

Congrats David! There is one being bid on now. It is up to $75 right now with 3 days left! It is on Ebay. I guess we both lucked out this week. I finally got Lionel's radio show book "And Here's Bing!" and you got the record!
