Caught the tail end of a short on TCM Sunday night which showed a singer - think it was Arthur Tracey(?)- the street singer.
Anyway he asks this girl what she thought of his singing and she answered, fine.
She then looks at her watch and says - oh, it's quarter to, I have to go and listen to Bing Crosby on the radio.
Probably made around 1932 I expect.
Forget about Patti Page, the singing rage.
It was all Bing, the singing rage.

Ron, I think there is a possibility that the short was "Rambling 'Round Radio Row #5" from 1933.
Your description fits anyhow.
