Early indications of the death of DVD? Each new technology seems to have a shorter life span!

When a format begins to die, it is a good predictor that I will start buying more of it. ;)

I refuse to buy blu ray unless they release EVERY Bing film on it - and I mean every one...even his cameo appearances in the Hope movies.
I still have some video so I am way behind the times.

Quite a reasonable review of the Blu-Ray ''High Time'' in the New York Post here -

I hadn't checked for a while, but I see now that this has been released and is available from Screen Archives Entertainment
both from their site:
and from them via Amazon marketplace for essentially the same price (taking shipping into account):
Nice to be able to go through Amazon and not have to set up yet another on-line account.
How many Crosbyphiles will be dragged kicking and screaming into the Blu-ray age? But I'm already there, and the players still support DVD. It's not really clear to me whether they are really completely replacing DVDs, although I do see a fair number of Blu-rays at Cosco now, which is a fair indication they are mainstream now. But both formats are competing against video-on-demand.

Has any one any knowledge of other Bing movies on Blu-Ray? I know of ''White Christmas'' (also on DVD of course) but cannot find any other.
''High Time'' it seems is only available on Blu-Ray, which looks like an unusual approach to marketing. I don't have a copy in any form but I doubt I will get a Blu Ray player purely on that account.
I've been through too many generations of audio formats to want to plunge into another video format as well.

"White Christmas" is the only other Bing movie I know of on Blu-Ray.
It does seem unusual to release "High Time" only on Blu-Ray. I suspect they only expected enough sales to justify release in one format, but given the target market, I would have thought DVD would have been a better choice.
I wouldn't recommend buying a Blu-Ray player for one movie! But the nice thing is that Blu-Ray players can play DVDs. So, if you need to replace your DVD player, since Blu-Ray player prices have come down a lot, it's probably worth considering buying one, so you can play both formats.

I have recently bought a blu-ray player that could play USA blu-ray discs and I quickly bought "High Time". I have just watched the film from beginning to end, the first time I have done that in many years. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a charming film and Bing still had a lot to give at that stage of his career. Seeing it in High Definition really helps too.

I guess I'll be getting this one now. I have blu-ray players. I favor my Panasonic one, it even has am and fm radio! I had trouble with the LG one. I'm not crazy about that movie but maybe I will like it better on blu-ray. I remember not liking Say One For Me but when I got the recent dvd with the clearer picture, I enjoyed it.

Wow! That's a lot of money. I'll hold out, maybe another store will have it at a more reasonable price.

Update: Blu-Ray soon to be replaced by Purpel-Ray.
