The US Open winner reminded a journalist of Bing
A week or so after Andy Murray won the US Open a sports writer for our national daily newspaper THE AUSTRALIAN noted, as did many others, that the last time a British contestant won a Tennis 'grand slam' tournament was Fred Perry in 1936. However, this writer recalled that the top song in Australia that year was Bing's 'Pennies from Heaven'. (That's doubtful but it was a commendable effort from a sports journalist.)
