The site 'International Lyrics Playground' claims to give the lyrics for over 36,000 songs and looks very interesting though it does at present fail on one test - no White Christmas!
In many cases it also lists songwriters and recording artists.

I love your lovin' arms,
They hold a world of charms,
A place to nestle when I am lonely.
A cosy Morris chair,
Oh, what a happy pair!
One caress,
Happiness
Seems to bless my little honey.
I love you more each day;
When years have passed away,
You'll find my love belongs to you only;
'Cause when the world seems wrong,
Then I know that I belong
Right in my honey's lovin' arms.
I love your lovin' arms,
They seem to hold a world of charms,
A place to nestle when I am lonely.
A cosy Morris chair,
Oh, what a happy pair!
One caress,
Happiness
Seems to bless my little honey.
I love you more each day;
When years have passed away,
You'll find my love belongs to you only;
'Cause when the world seems wrong,
Then I know that I belong
Right in my honey's lovin' arms.
(scat)
Oh, when the world seems wrong,
Then I know that I belong
Right in my honey's lovin' arms.

Thanks Richard. I'll look forward to using that site to learn more about popular songs of yesteryear, not only songs which Bing recorded, as I plan a weekly radio program which I present on our local community radio station. I'll be especially keen to learn who the sonwriters of less-well-known songs were.

I have heard from Peter Akers, who told me about the site ''International Lyrics Playground''. He says that Ty Smith, who created it, passed away on April 1st.
The site is interesting and useful, not only as a source of lyrics and identification of lyric writer and composer, but also in many cases as a reminder of the performers who recorded each song. It would be a great pity if it were to be lost. Moreover it does seem to concentrate on the period in which we are interested.
Ty's daughter Kylie is hoping to keep it all going. I do hope she succeeds.
