SADLY AFTER 16 YEARS, BOARDHOST HAS DECIDED TO ELIMINATE THE FREE FORUM OPTION, AND THIS BOARD WILL HAVE TO BE A PAID BOARD AS OF SEPTEMBER 26TH. There has been a lot of interest keeping this board going. Let me know if you are interested in helping with this board. The more people that give, the cheaper it will end up being. Contact me if you are interested.

Unfortunately, I have received some sad news regarding this board. It looks like on September 26th this board will be deactivated unless we subcribe to the pay service. I have reached out to them, but have not heard back. Here is the email I received this weekend:
Hello, We are writing regarding your forum at You are currently utilizing our free service plan. We have made the difficult decision to discontinue our free forum service plan due to declining ad revenue, which had been funding our free service. As a result, we have added 100 days of our Premium Forum Service Plan to your forum at no charge to you. During this time, your forum will not contain advertising or branding, and will have access to our additional Premium Forum Service features. However, after the 100 days, you will either need to purchase another term of service, or your forum will be deactivated. Our Premium Forum Service is available for $15.99 per month, or you can also save 10% by purchasing 180 days at a time.
Again, your first 100 days are on us, but you can add more days to your forum at anytime by visiting
If you do not wish to enroll in the Premium Forum Service, please utilize the next 100 days to establish a replacement service, if desired. If you take no action, your forum will be deactivated 100 days from this message.

I started looking for new boards, and I found this site that looks the same as this board, and it is free:
Now, I would be willing to create this - but is there enough interest to keep this board going? If there is not, then September 26 is the end of this board. Please let me know your thoughts on the future of this board.

I would be happy to move to a new board, however it would’ve a shame to lose the amount of the discussion that has been on this board. Is there a way to archive the board at all in the admin controls, as in a download of some sort of file or something? If not there would be other ways to archive the conversations, it would just be tedious. While it has been a bit slower as of late, when it was more active there was always great conversation.

I thought about that, and it seems like I can just capture screen shots of the conversations. There is no place to download our old content. I reached out to the webhost person but have not heard back yet.

The best way then would probably be to save as much as .html files, all you have to do, I think, is right click the page. However, maybe if you do get a response, you could ask about a way to archive what’s been posted on here.

Sounds good. So far I haven't heard back. You are the only one that has responded, so before I create a new board I want to see if there is any interest in it.
Thanks!

We are all of course very much interested in preserving this board!
And even in the worst scenario of being forced to close this forum, preservation of the valuable material uploaded here seems an historic duty to the community of the Crosbyphiles.

I would also like to see this very valuable board continue. It is an amazing resource and a great place for like-minded Bing fans to meet. Many thanks!

I like to check in every now and then to read what people are up to and occasionally add my little bit. It’s good to have a place where we can all come together to discuss Bing things. I’m happy to throw in $10 to contribute towards the next year but also support another site if that’s what everyone wants. Let me know.
Cheers, Dave Duncan.

I think that it is a very fine idea, I would be willing to make a financial contribution also to maintain the site.
I am affraid that if this site cease to exist, we will lose permanently our momentum and even if we are able to make a new board work we will have lost many archival chats.
I support Dave's proposal. If some of us would agree to share the burden, this board migh survive.

The annual cost is 191$ maybe less with the discount. That's less than 16$ per month. If divided the cost woule be extremely low.
For four participants only this would be merely 3.98$ per month (perhaps even less)
It seems a very low price to pay to keep the forum going.

Blimey, this is a huge shame. I would love to continue participating. Thank you for all your gargantuan efforts so far, David.

I would be more than happy to financially contribute with those prices.

I was thinking that is always a possibility. Then we don't have to move to a different board.

Yes, I think from what you have already stated, David - this could be the best future way forward. We would not lose all that has gone before and could ensure a reliable continuity. I think if we could we perhaps secure just a few financial commitments from those of us willing to jointly financially subscribe - then maybe this would give us a sound footing to continue from where we already are?

Hi, I would also be willing to contribute, monetarily, to keep the site going...

Indeed, Pantelis.
I would be happy to set up a monthly direct debit for my payment.

Many apologies - I should have responded to this immediately...
I would, of course, be more than happy to contribute financially to ensure the continuation of CFW.
Maybe if enough people respond positively, it might bring the cost of the annual subscription down to a more manageable individual annual sum for everyone. Just a thought...

I would be willing to! I support a forum for about 12 bucks a year currently, and I use this forum more so I would gladly contribute.

I would be willing to pay for it from my account and everyone just reimburses me. I'm not sure how it works abroad, but I use Venmo here. Does anyone use that?
Luckily we have some months to figure out the logistics. I have some ideas on how to showcase the members that make a donation to the board as well.

I understand from a basic internet search that Venmo's services aren't available for those of us within the UK.
However, I know from experience of sending money abroad to a number countries, that I could transfer the required amount, online by using Western Union.

I would be able to do so through Venmo!

I've used PayPal several times to send money overseas, but of course it depends on the recipient having a PayPal account...
