More than 44 million people listened to Bing's music only in Spotify, This is a record breaking year for Bing. Its nice to see that so many people are still enjoying his music.

I wonder if some larger trend is going on. Wasn't it just a couple weeks ago that the re-released Christmas albums hit higher on the charts than anything in a long time?

I am so happy Bing is back in the charts, but I wish it would not just be fo Christmas music - maybe it will translate into a year round Bing resurgance!

Bing Crosby's Christmas music continues to maintain its relevance, leading new generations to discover his work. The Christmas music keeps Bing alive in the hearts of millions of youngsters who are unaware of his other music, and perhaps if someone appreciates good music, the Christmas songs will lead -we hope- some of them to discover his other work as well. I was first introduced to Bing through his Christmas recordings, which have been a constant presence since I was born, and only later I begin to look deeper into his extensive song catalogue, appreciating the full spectrum of his talent.
I am also sorry that so many wonderful recordings are totally forgotten, and the Christmas songs are the only Crosby records still popular. But Bing himself and his family never made the same distinction, and they never commented on the fact that his Christmas music was more well-remembered than his other songs.
Bing Crosby's Christmas music serves as a gateway for new fans to discover the richness of his musical legacy, and its mainstream presence helps preserve his legacy.

Isn't this an amazing thing? I know all of us don't want Bing to be pigeonholed solely for Christmas music. But think how wonderful it is that nearly a half-century after he died, and almost 100 years after his first professional success as a singer, so many people are still drawn to his music during a time of year that helps them be open to it. That's a blessing. And I have to believe at least a small number of them wind up listening to more of his music, too!
Merry Christmas, all!
