High Society would be preserved for posterity in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being culturaly, historicaly and aestheticaly important. The inclusion of the film means it is officialy recognized as part of the American institutional narrative.

Sorry I'm late to this particular swell party. This is a wonderful choice.
One of the great MGM classic musicals, with that champagne-fizz sensibility, glorious songs, faultless pacing, performers, performances and songs - and possibly our man's greatest musical? 
"Now You Has Jazz" and "Well Did You Evah?" must surely must be two of the greatest musical big screen duets ever committed to film?
