1937 Deccas

I dug out this morning some of Bing's 1937 recordings - even his rarer discs were amazing!

Re: 1937 Deccas

You are right, David. These are fine renditions. Perhaps lost amongst some classics from 1937 - some of the better Hawaiian sides (Blue Hawaii, In a Little Hula Heaven, Dancing Under the Stars) plus some great solo spots from Andy Secrest (It's the Natural Thing to Do, Smarty, Remember Me?, Bob White and Basin Street Blues).

I've always liked Bing's Too Marvellous for Words with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra.

However, you got me thinking with these two tracks and I've put on Chronological Crosby volume 20. All of a sudden I'm taking a shine to Never in a Million Years.

And then you get the likes of Peckin' - great Big Band sound but Bing is wasted here. Just like Pinetops Boogie with Lionel Hampton in 1946.

I always associate Never In A Million Years with Alice Faye and love her version of the song, but I relistened to Bing's version, and it was great as well!
