Abbott and Costello
Costello told a joke about Bing on one of their radio shows I was listening too. He said, "I want a Crosby Cocktail."Marlene Deitrech said, " What kind of drink is that?" Lou said, " One drink then BING!" I know I probably didn't quote it exactly. Anyway, did Bing ever appear on the Abbott And Costello radio show?

A little bit unrelated, but I just listened to the radio broadcast Abbott & Costello did a few hours after Lou Costello's son drowned in their pull. It is heartbreaking hearing the show and knowing what Lou was going through.

David, I have that one. Poor Lou. Terrible that baby died like that. He was never the same after he lost his son. Lou was a good hearted man. Watch him on This is your Life on youtube. What a show!

His wife too was never the same and they died around each other. I could not imagine.

I remember this being depicted in the 1978 television film "Bud and Lou", based on the biography by Bob Thomas (who also wrote just a little after, that lovely picture book tribute, "The One and Only Bing").
In the tele-film, they dealt with Lou's sons death very sensitively. I thought for the limited budget they would have had, compared to a cinema biopic, the film was rather well done. Solid and decent performances from Harvey Korman and Buddy Hackett (is there anyone else anyone could imagine playing Lou?).

Ian, I can't picture anyone playing Lou. He was one of a kind and good hearted. He gave Dean Martin the money for a nose job years ago. Yes, David This is Your Life, Lou Costello made me cry. Love Abbott and Costello. I have all those heir movies and many of their Radio Shows. They were excellent!!!

True, Carmela. I sometimes dread looking at actors playing great comedians when re-creating their classic routines. I always think it best that they stick to just playing their private, non-performing moments.Years ago, I walked out of a "Ratpack" tribute show when the young man playing Dean Martin had none of the cheeky humour or natural delivery of Dean Martin. However, I think the real exception to this rule was when Robert Downey Jr played the title role in the film, "Chaplin". I was thunderstruck as to how he mastered Charlie's balletic comedic grace and precision.
I'd be keen to see how Greg Kinear fared when playing a clearly struggling Bob Hope when having his routine interupted by angry protestors at the 1970 Miss World contest in London in the 2020 film, "Misbehaviour" which depicted the controversy,
