I was in my third year out of college and third year of marriage and third year of working in graphic arts departments in little companies in Chicago. My Crosby record collection consisted of about 90 minutes worth of his 78s, and I was largely ignorant of what Bing had been doing recently, except for occasional TV appearances. Still, the news greatly saddened me.
