Andy Williams (1927-2012)

Moon River was the closing number for our wedding, and I will never listen to it the same way again....he was not only a good singer but a nice guy. RIP...

Re: Andy Williams (1927-2012)

Andy Williams' death was reported at some length this morning on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's radio network, first in the news bulletin and then, in more detail, soon afterwards. Note was made that many major artists were guests on his TV shows, including Bing.

Re: Andy Williams (1927-2012)

The stars who really sang and could make sense of the lyrics unfortunately are diminishing in number.

Andy was one of the real greats following in Bing's footsteps. Bing was not just an influence in this case but gave a little push up.

The Williams Brothers famously accompanied Bing on ''Swinging On A Star''. They were also guests on Philco Radio Time  on 12 November 1947, and Bing had a major contribution, singing a long medley with Andy, on the Andy Williams Show on 30 October 1966 with a return visit the following month.

There also performed together on the Pearl Bailey Show in January 1971.

Re: Andy Williams (1927-2012)

I have fond memories of The Andy Williams Show on TV when I was in grade school.  He took great delight in promoting the Osmond Brothers as regular guests.  They must have reminded him of when he and his brothers were starting out. Bing was a guest on Andy's show a time or two, was he not?
