I agree, David. This is a cracking version. I love that it's a recording of two halves - the ballad beginnings and then the swinging second part. Judy was such a sophisticated singer, wasn't she? Just fourteen years old here - and already a seasoned entertainer. There must be hundreds of generally unheard radio appearances such as this?

Although represented with Bing on the radio, what a shame it was that they never starred in a feature film together. I suppose with Judy being at MGM and Bing at Paramount for most of their respective peak musical film careers, that was never going to be easy. A pity, really because I think some similar onscreen magic would have worked as it did when she starred with  Gene Kelly. and then Fred Astaire. I so wish Judy had, as originally planned, made "The Barkleys of Broadway" with Astaire. I think the film would have knitted together far more naturally. 
Possibly, could Bing have been effective as Judy's broken husband in "A Star is Born"? I know he was almost twenty years older than her but this didn't seem to matter with Grace Kelly in The Country Girl when he played a similar character. Or indeed with Judy opposite Fred Astaire.

However, I think a 1940's traditional musical with both as the singing leads would have proven far more satisfying. I have the feeling it would have given us at least a couple of timeless classic musical numbers which would have been naturals for "That's Entertainment" inclusion.
