Ottilie Patterson, who died on 20th June and was a prominent jazz/blues influenced singer, taking a major part in the British 'trad revival' in the 1950s and 60s, was influenced to sing, according to her obituary, by seeing 'Birth of the Blues' in 1942 when she was ten.
She was a prominent member of Chris Barber's band, and for some time was married to him.
