Bing and politics
Reports of some Hollywood celebrities' very public reactions to Donald Trump's presidency reminded me of Gary Giddins' quotation of Basil Grillo (on page 289): 'He [Bing] didn't believe actors should be influencing people on serious matters. It didn't make any difference what it was...he thought actors should not use their prominence that way'. Today it appears that some actors believe that they are endowed with greater intelligence and morality than Trump or the millions who voted for him.
