Historian unearths Bing Crosby's Bridgwater Carnival connection

A news item about a letter from Bing to the organisers of a carnival in 1949, in Bridgwater, a town in Somerset, in the south west of England, with a population of 33,000. In 1949 it was considerably smaller.

Bing's letter reads  “Replying to your letter regarding the music for our show, wish to advise our program is off the air for the summer.

“However, we will be happy to consider your suggestion when we return in the Fall if time and opportunity permit.

“Top O’ The Morning” is our next picture release, with good old Barry Fitzgerald, Ann Blyth and some fine tunes.

“Thanks for your interest, and best wishes”
