Road in 1939....
There is a book about Barbara Stanwyck by (Victoria Wilson,2013) that noted that Bing Crosby had an impromptu gig at a Stanwyck party at the Lamaze Cafe in Los Angeles.Perhaps the one noted by Malcolm on (Feb 25,1939) ? It seems to match and also gives Malcolm the actual location.
