I'd not heard that recording by Patti Page but it sounded more like Basin Street Blues..

You are correct! I uploaded the wrong video so I fixed it. Thanks for noticing! https://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/happy.png

On the Decca Recordings of the songs, the Andrews Sisters even joined Bing on two of the songs. Here's one of them:

I recently re-watched the 1950 film Mr. Music, and it was a really good film that is not really remembered today. The songs were enjoyable and Bing was in fine voice in the Decca recordings he made of the songs...

Here is the singing rage Miss Patti Page reviving the 1930s Bing hit Just One More Chance. Patti recorded this for her 1953 album on the Mercury label "Patti's Songs"...

Hi Jeremy,
As you probably know, there isn't many good radio stations here in the stats. However, during Christmas I made a little list of the Christmas recordings I did hear by Bing:

White Christmas (1942 and 1947 versions)
I'll Be Home For Christmas
Do You Hear What I Hear
I Wish You A Merry Christmas
Twelve Days of Christmas with The Andrew Sisters
Let It Snow
Frosty The Snow Man

I wish they played more of a variety but it was better than nothing.

Merry Christmas, happy New Year, and I hope 2022 is full of health, happiness, and a lot of great Bing Crosby moments!

I had the opportunity to interview Marjorie Reynolds' daughter Linda (who was named after the character in Holiday Inn) in the 1990s, and she said Bing and Marjorie Reynolds didn't have a close relationship, but the two definitely had chemistry in the movie.

We will not be continuing with the movie of the month, due to a lack of interest.

Great review of the film Archiefit!

Bing had wanted Mary Martin for the role but I believe she was pregnant at the time. As a result, he wasn't too happy with Marjorie Reynolds - but Bing did have final say of his co-stars, and he would star with Reynolds in Dixie in 1943.

Like Lee, I prefer Holiday Inn to White Christmas, but both movies are great. I watched the film a few months ago with my 9 year old daughter, and she said Fred Astaire was the "biggest jerk in the world". My daughter yelled at the screen repeatedly too.

I'll have more thoughts on the movie in the upcoming weeks but any thoughts anyone else?

As Bing sings - At MyTime of Life - (87) who do I leave all my CD’s etc to? My brother certainly isn’t interested and my nephews and nieces aren’t or their children. A visit to the local Council library is on the agenda.

I have my collection going to fellow collectors. I checked into libraries and sometimes they are forgotten there.

There are young collectors coming up that are starting from the beginning of collecting.

I will be watching Holiday Inn this weekend. There's really not much wrong with this movie, if anything. It's in my top five of favorite Bing films too. Anyone else with thoughts on the film?

If anyone has hesitated to get this latest Sepia CD, I think you should buy it. It's a wonderful CD issue and some real gems on here. I recommend it!

My favorite "non White Christmas" Christmas recording that Bing made was "You're All I Want For Christmas". It is pretty forgotten now. Frankie Laine also made a decent recording of it.

I listened to this record from Lindsay again, and if you listen to his voice - he sounded a lot like his mom Dixie Lee. He really had a nice voice - higher than the other brothers.

I always found this to be such a sad recording. With what happened to Lindsay Crosby and around year after he recorded this song his mother would pass away, I think of what a sad life Lindsay must have had. Lindsay had a nice voice though...

I get tired of listening to records of Jingle Bells and even White Christmas, so when a different Christmas record catches my ear, I get all excited. I just "discovered" this Decca record Bing made on September 8, 1950. It's a nice little number...

Bing's version is more dramatic and I believe better suited to the lyrics. T thought the accompaniment on Perry's recording sometimes overwhelmed the vocal.

I like Perry Como but some of his records seem a little bit lacking something. I like this song so I like Perry's version but it is no where as good as Bing's version.

I'll begin with a confession. I don't mean that I'm old, although I am (87) but that in my late teens in Melbourne, Australia, I tired of hearing Bing's records on radio because he was so popular you couldn't avoid them. Then a friend introduced me to his early 1930s records and I was hooked. I enjoy especially his duets with Connee Boswell and many with The Andrews Sisters. As for my favourite movies, I'd say High Society, The Emperor Waltz and  Here Comes the Groom.

You're only as young as you feel. Today I feel like I am 101!

Bing's duets with Connee Boswell were amazing!
