Betty Hutton it was, Graham.
In lockdown in a hotel at Railway Square.
My fortnight is up on Sunday.
Full board for the 14 days at $1500pw.
Last Saturday new linen etc etc left at door so I had to strip and make the bed - not as good as the staff but the sheets are too big for my bed.
Meals are left at the door 3 times a day and you leave the returns outside the door.
Had a swab test last Friday and another on Friday.
On checkout on Sunday further testing, I believe.
My view from the 10th. Floor overlooks Railway Square andI can seethe platform roofs of Central Station. View north so sun all day.
Just as well I had a long book to read on the Royals.
I wonder what fresh air is like.

Riding High is a favourite of mine.
Wish TCM would show it.
Also wish TCM would show Bing films as one gets sick of the constant Wayne movies and forever reruns of other movies but no Bing.

Nice. Don’t think I’ve seen that ‘rug top’ on Bing before. Quite a wave like I used to have last century.

I’m sure that yesteryear the keeping of information regarding sales would be no where near as accurate as these days with the zapping of everything one buys.
Stacks of 78’s in a store, you’d select the record and pay for it. It would just ring up in the till as a 4/6 sale.
Not sure if stock taking would be as precise either.

Oh, and a couple of letters signed too.
Wish the modern quick selfie photos were available way back in 1957 when Infirst met Bing, Bob and Larry and later on Phil when in Australia and later again other members.
Today so easy for a selfie with anybody.

I remember being in LA near ‘ the walk’ with  with Stars stars in the footpath.
There was a shop with lots of photos supposedly autographed by the stars and with a quote - we can get a picture autographed for you.
Wasn’t one of Bing but I thought  that they would do a rough autograph themselves of any star.
I really didn’t trust them. I was not going to ask for a Bing as I had three or four at home.

Last year I attached Bing’s “The Secret of Christmas”  to my emails to friends and relatives. Some had never heard that song, which is my favourite, non-religious song of Christmas.
I then followed with a double whammy via 2 emails. “Let’s Start the New Year Right” followed by “On the Very First Day if the Year”.
All the best for 2021 and hope it will be a better year than 2020, which I thought was going to be a very good visionary year (20/20, get it) but it was disaster world wide.
Stay safe

Don’t do Netflix.
Sadly no Bing on TCM today - No Holiday Inn or White Christmas.
Might have to boycott them.
What is left of the day - already Boxing Day in Australia and New Zealand and other spots - enjoy and stay safe.

I remember at the end of 1977 it was stated that it was a year of the most deaths of celebrities and well known people - Bing, Elvis and so on.
Well, I think that this year has been worse with the passing of so many well known identities- Olivia de Havilland, Sean Connery, Honor Blackman, Rhonda Fleming, Geoffrey Palmer, Peter Alliss and lots more.
To top it all in Australia it was devastating by bushfires (I was without power for 8 days) and California too. The UK had major floodings  and other countries as well had their problems.
Then the big whammy came along with the virus and places are in lockdown for Christmas and New Year.
We can just pray and hope 2021 will be better than 2020, which I thought was going to be a great vision year 20-20.
In the meantime let us all be safe and make the most of everything.
A Merry Bing and family Christmas and New Year.
Stay safe.

As Bing sings ‘Let’s Start The New Year Right’.

Oh, how I thought that the year 2020 would be a good year - 2020, a year of perfect vision but it has proved to be one of the most awful years what with the bushfires in Australia and California also suffered. Floodings and extreme weather and then starting to recover and then a double whammy with the Coronavirius.
Governments have had a hard time trying to balance everything out and having to wear a mask.
Strange - last year if you walked into a bank wearing a mask the alarm bells would be ringing, now you can’t go into one without wearing one.
But, one thing we can all do is to take a few minutes out and play and LISTEN to Bing’s recording of ‘The Secret of Christmas’. So true the words.
Please stay safe and enjoy Christmas under trying times.

Sadly former pro golfer and TV broadcaster Peter Alliss has passed away.
He was great to listen to on the TV and I believe involved in Bing’s UK golf TV shows.
His comments were always a delight to hear.
He’ll be joining a few golfers on the course in the sky.

That is good news and especially that Bing was part owner of The Pittsburgh Pirates.
Pittsburgh is a nice city and has changed so much since I first visited in 1958. Last time about 5-6 years ago and quite a change.

As you say, Richard, they’re all good and enjoyable and depending on your mood at the time.
There are the religious ones and the jolly ones and my favourite- non religious- is The Secret of Christmas- with words of meaning.

In today’s (Saturday 26/11/20) of the London Daily Telegraph there is an article on Joan Collins..
The article includes a photo from ‘Hong Kong’ and Joan is quoted as saying Bob Hope was funny but Bing was cold.
Didn’t like the choice of her over Dottie in the movie. Thought it was rather mean.
Apparently the boys thought Dottie was a bit old and Joan younger. The boys weren’t too crash hot looking either.

I bought a table model stereo which promoted stereophonic sound. The player had a speaker on each side and the trick was to place the machine in a corner and have the sound bounce off the wall. Think it was an HMV /RCA machine.
I remember the Fred and Cyd film ‘Silk Stockings’ from 1957 and the song and words - you’ve got to have glorious technicolour, breath taking CinemaScope and stereophonic sound.

My new BING arrived here in western USA on Tuesday - maybe even Monday as I didn’t visit the P.O. that day.
Another nice colour production and photos I hadn’t seen before.
A UK friend hasn’t received theirs as yet - Thursday.
Strange happenings.

The 14th. October death date is increasing with two last week of known identities.
Now it is Errol Flynn, Bing, former NZ cricketer John Reid and Rhonda Fleming.

Just saw the obit in today’s Daily Telegraph.
This 14th. October is building up with those that have passed on - Errol Flynn, Bing, Rhonda and former NZ cricket captain and also played in England - John Reid. He died same day as Rhonda last week.
No doubt there are other ‘notables’ on this day too.

While both Fred and Danny were pains in their attitudes I think Danny was worse.
