David Lobosco has graciously agreed to take over the Administration of this board.

I am very grateful to him as I have been unable to devote time to it in the recent past.
I am sure that David will bring energy and vigour to the task that I fear I have lacked for some months.

I wish him very well and ask that all subscribers will give him whatever support they can.

Recent news suggests that this is a time when new things could emerge from "Official" sources and I hope that news might begin to flow again both as a result of this and some of the ideas that David has for the future of this board.
I am sure I will return from time to time as a contributor, but now I leave matters in the hands of David as the Administrator and Moderator.

Over the last few days a number of apparent new users have logged onto this board.
There are several inconsistencies about the details given but all have embedded website addresses for various firms which sell batteries for laptops.

I can only assume that the purpose is to attempt to increase rankings for those sites in search engines. I suspect that such a purpose will fail. This board is for those with a genuine interest in Bing Crosby and I will be removing and banning all  persons of whom I have ground to suspect ulterior motives. If anyone believes I have been mistaken in their individual cases they may email me at Jarbie01@gmail.com

I do not think other users of the board will be harmed in any way, but if you have concerns, please contact me.

Bing's Yuletide cheer comes in many different packages, but beneath it all the same message is contained.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS

I apologise to those for whom this image did not display. I hope that is now corrected.

This discussion forum was set up by Tommy Bascumbe. I am sure all will wish to extend grateful thanks to him for his initiative and congratulate him on his success and the interest he has been able generate so far.

However, though it has been operating for a short time, Tommy has now realised that competing business pressures prevent him from being as active as he would like.

He recently asked for assistance, but after some discussions he has felt it is more appropriate to hand over complete control to me.
While pursuing  discussions with Tommy I have also consulted with a key member of the management team of ICC.
I have personal aspirations that at some point the forum might be incorporated in some way with the ICC,  of which I am a member,  but I emphasise that current responsibility is mine and mine alone.

When he set up the forum Tommy required some undertakings .
I am changing some of these to add emphasis to the general points about respect.

Participants are required to undertake
(1) To show every respect to the memory of Bing and his family.
(2) To have full regard to the ongoing rights of the family to respect and privacy.
(3) To understand and respect their ongoing business interests..
(4) To be generous and fair-minded to others;
(5) To be considerate and responsible in any statements;
(6) To participate regularly in discussions, if only to ask questions or to encourage the thriving of this community
(7) To invite other fans of the great Bing Crosby to join us here.

I assume that all existing participants will read this and their ongoing participation will be taken as an indication of their agreement.

I retain the absolute right to remove any posting that is likely to offend.  Repeated infringements will result in removal of the offender.

Any person or organisation with a legitimate interest who might feel that any item posted offends should send me an e –mail detailing their grievance.

Two members have forwarded me links relating brief details about a serious automobile accident injuring Kathryn Crosby:

Does anyone know what options members (or readers) may have for personally communicating their wishes for Mrs. Crosby's recovery and their sympathies to the family regarding the loss of her husband, Mr. Sullivan?

John,

Thank you for your good words.  It seems like only a few days ago, this board was only a framework.  Then I attempted to get the word out to a handful of others at websites with some relationship to Bing, and they have done all the rest!

Thank you, Lobosco.  If you scroll down to the tagline at the very bottom of each page of this discussion board, you will see the request that members, and perhaps visitors too, spread the word about this cyberplace (assuming they find it worthwhile).  Since the quality of the experience depends on the participation of everyone who decides to join, all of us should be grateful to those who have publicized this board with links at other websites, as Lobosco and a few others have aleady done.  These and other similar efforts (emails, phone messages...) may bring this community many fascinating participants.

Richard,  if you mean posts with a connection to Bing's golfing, "Biography" would be the category.  Member's golfing could go in "General Discussion: General Discussion."  I am prepared to subdivid any of the catergories for any major subtopics that might manifest themselves.

I like the way that Satchmo sings out the individual syllables in the opening theme song:
"High, Hign,
High, High,
High So-Ci-Et-Ty."
It has me smiling before the story even begins.

Can anyone (already joined or about to join) tell about the new Collector's Choice CD set collecting songs recorded for the Crosby-Clooney radio show.  I mean, has anyone ordered it yet, heard it yet?

Here is a link to the catalog description for anyone who hasn't already heard about this:

I hope to be getting the word out in the next few days, so that this discussion board framework can begin to take on some liveliness!

Meanwhile any Bing Crosby fanatics who happen upon this place are encouraged to click the "Register" lin,  to mindfully agree to the discussion board rules, and to thence proceed with the easy process of becoming a member, customizing your interface, and beginning to contribute in posts and comments!
