Glad you liked it!  I was surprised too when I found that.  30 or more years ago I actually found the Bing "Calling All Boys" comic book at a comic book convention.   But I had no idea there was another Bing comic around.
I do hope though that you will listen to the Sounds Like Radio podcast, I feature Bing in every episode and the rest of the music is always something fun and interesting.   Bing is our "House Singer" like some programs have House Bands.  It's a good show, I think you'll enjoy it.  Hope you'll listen and if you have a song request let me know.   It's always free too, here's where the action is:

I've liked Charlie Spivak's lively jumpy songs too.  In either the late '70s or the 1980's the local radio station here used to have Joel Spivak hosting a call in news type show.  Joel was Charlie's son, once in a while a caller would call into Joel's show and talk about his father.  I used to listen to Joel's show back then, unfortunately in the years hence Joel has joined his father in that big Big Band Show in the sky.

TCM really does suffer from over repeatedly playing the same ancient 1910's, '20's and '30's lousy movies no one wants to see in the first place over and over and over again.  They almost never show the main old movies you want to see esp. the Paramount/MCA movies you want to see.   You're right they'll never show Bing's Paramount movies of the '30's thru the '50's..  They never even show Roy Rogers movies of the late '40's thru early '50's even, once in a great while one will sneak in.   As once every 10 or 20 years a Bing movie will get on.  I was really happy when in March of 2019 TCM finally for the very first (and last, by the way)  time showed Bing's Top of The Morning.  It hadn't been on TV since the good version of the old AMC showed it 20 years ago.  So if you missed it that ONE day TCM showed it, you'll have to wait another 20 or 30 years to see it again.   Thank goodness for DVDs, what a true modern miracle we have with them.  To think those many years when people had no way of ever watching what they wanted unless they paid 100's of dollars for an actual film print to run in a projector.

Until TCM gets the rights to show Paramount movies you won't see W.C. Fields, Bing, and the many other great stars that were regulars on Paramount in those early years.   Same story for all the great classic 20th Century FOX movies, TCM will only once in a very great while show them.  I've NEVER seen Bing's Say One For Me on TCM.   Thank goodness once again for the one time Cinemax showed it 20 years or more ago and I was there tapeside.  AMC, the good old AMC showed it once or twice but never once since it turned into the unwatchable commercial laden channel it is now.  Even the FXM movie channel will only show a very very few selet Fox classic movies and they show those very few over and over and over again.   Fox has never shown Say 1 For Me either but they'll show the same 20 or 30 old Fox movies repeatedly for years and years.

Let's all k

For a long time I had heard that Bing only appeared in one comic book (as opposed to Bob Hope who had a whole series of comics).  That one comic book was 1947's "Calling All Boys" (cover shown in next posting).

BUT, today I just discovered a whole comic book version of Bing in his movie RIDING HIGH!!!  This is a great find as you can turn each page of this Riding High comic book from the cover all the way thru to the back, reading and enjoying each page as you go.  Here's where to go to look at the entire comic book of Bing in RIDING HIGH:

Hello Bingsters,
I've been including a Bing song in every episode of my Sounds Like Radio podcast.  Really there's Bing in 99% of all shows.  I especially recommend you listen to Episode 49 for a neat Bing singing about what he's learned & some funny action by Your Humble Host.  Also in the latest Epis. 50 you'll hear Dean Martin singing like Bing & then the great Bing himself sings like a bluebird.

Really a great Bing surprise in every show.  For an entertaining hour of really great music & a fun radio show, The Great Gildersleeve listen to Sounds Like Radio, a new episode is featured every week, and it's all free all the time.  No matter when you tune in, we'll be there.  Now here's where the action is:

Thank you so much Tom for your very kind words and I thank you for your continued listener-ship.  Nice knowing good people are out there listening!  Every show I do I consider what music would be best and or what songs have not been heard of or not heard in a long time.  Most of all the songs have to be really fascinating & good to listen to.

Back in the '70's and '80's I can remember hearing a show like the one I'm doing and always loved hearing music I was not aware of or discovering for the first time.  I hope to do that with my shows too, having fun as I do them is just a bonus.  Shows like the one I used to listen to are now long gone but luckily the music is not.   Thank you once again for listening!

Also some very special Christmas Bonus Extras with a couple of visits to Your Humble Host's Christmas Poetry Corner.   I'll read to you an amusing Christmas Poem or Ode which I hope will add to your Christmas time enjoyment.   Lordy knows we all need it now more than ever.  Happy Kringle and here's where to find a bit of cheer:

It's nice his collection just won't be tossed out.  But wouldn't it have been even better if, before donating it all to a place where it will never be seen again by most people, if someone there could have put all the Bing videos up on Daily Motion or  Internet Archive first so everyone, particularly the people who want to see this stuff, the Bing fans, could see it.

As it is now, who's going to ever see these gems other than the Univ. archivers.   I'm glad it's being preserved but it would have been so much better to first SHARE it with the public before burying it in a Univ. basement.   When I read Wig had every TV show Bing was in, that immediately brought to mind all the stuff we could have seen before it went to the univ vaults.  This is what the Internet Archive and Daily Motion were meant for for others interested to be able to see this stuff.   Now it's just as buried there as the Crosby collection is buried in the Crosby vaults.  No one will see these either at least not in our lifetimes.  So once again a grand opportunity to finally see ALL the episodes of Bing's TV sitcom, for example, is blown.   Assuming Wig really did have "every" Bing TV appearance as the article claims

It would be much easier for me to pick the ones that are NOT my favorite, it's a tie really between the never ending tedious 12 Days of Christmas and the Bowie duet mess.  I've removed them both from my Christmas playlist on my computer.  Otherwise ALL of Bing's Christmas songs are my favorite.

Hmm.  I kept waiting for the cartoon to start, it never did, just that one picture as the song plays out.  That wasn't an "animated video" it was a picture.  I guess after their White Christmas politically correct depression fest they gave up.  I did like Winter Wonderland though, it was bright and cheery, only wish the same could be said for the other.   Funny the Sinatra Christmas videos were all bright and cheery, no political correctness in those.  The Sinatra people know what they're doing.

Well, if you've had enough of the supposedly bad and rotten sides of Bing & Frankie.  I don't read those books or bother listening as I know they're mostly made up and false trying to cash in on popular names even if it means trashing them at the same time.

Now if you want to hear some good Bing Crosby music and other great classic singers you should try my Sounds Like Radio podcast.  Guaranteed no Evil Bing stories there.   I feature Bing in almost every episode.  Currently I just posted the new & what is to be the first of 4 different Christmas shows.  It has a lot of great unusual Christmas music which naturally on my show will have Bing amongst other classic giants.  I'll be posting a different Christmas show each week in December with lots of music to go along with a different Great Gildersleeve Christmas episode.   Everything's free, of course, and you can now listen in your car or wherever you do these type things with Spotify or Google Podcasts.  (Personally I just use the website and my computer, but I know it's more convenient for folks with these other platforms.)   For Bing and now Christmas enjoyment go to:

That White Christmas video was disappointing to me, not nearly as Christmasy as the Sinatra Christmas videos, kind of depressing actually.  I guess political correctness effects even Bing videos.  I wouldn't have minded if everyone was smoking.  Would have made the video more fun anyway.  Maybe the kid could have had a bubblegum cigar like I used to have as a kid.

Well, I've always liked the stereofying of Bing's old records including the reverb '70's albums that MCA used to put out then, esp. that Best of Bing double album.   But that recent post of Accentuate The Positive and the stereo White Christmas both sounded like genuine stereo to me, as you could hear the blast of the band on the left and another part of the band on the right and Bing loud and clear in the middle.   Now that is what I'd call real stereo sound when you can hear some instruments on one speaker and other instruments on the other speaker and the singer balanced in the middle.   I still like that old reverb too that MCA and Robert Parker specialized in, but nether of them had what I defined as true stereo separation sound, (some instruments on right others on left singer in middle).

My favorite Bing era is from about 1938 thru the 1950's so I especially enjoy that Robert Parker "Song Hits From The Movies" CD, the other Parker CD I have is the "Golden Years Classic Crosby" CD that contains all early Bing from the '30's, I never bothered to even download it onto my computer as I really don't care about the songs there.  But that "Movies" Parker CD is great and that one plays on my computer's "Random" play whenever the computer has a mind to select one of the songs.

Now speaking of stereofying we talked about this before in another excellent thread from 2017.

https://crosbyfanworld.boardhost.com/viewtopic.php?id=1162

A a lot of good information and pictures of albums that have stereo creation sound.  I posted a picture there of an MGM album version of Bing's Bing Sings Whilst Bregman Swings".  That blue MGM album with the painting of Bing on the cover was just called "Bing Crosby" but that's where you'll find stereo versions of the Bregman Swings lp.  Here's that album:

Well, that Bowie-Bing duet is my LEAST favorite Bing Christmas song (next to 12 Days of Christmas because it goes on forever).  But as far as it being in stereo I believe it was originally recorded in stereo (even though on TV people heard it in mono cause back then people didn't have stereo TVs).   In fact I actually bought the 45 on the RCA label at the time of that song when it was released in 1978.  (The story was Bowiie was on RCA so it was the only way it was allowed to be released.  Least that's the way I heard back in '78.)  But on the more recent Capitol Bing Christmas CD it was added there and was in stereo (I think).   But I'm not going to bother recording the new Utube version as I already years ago have purposely deleted all versions of it from my computer.  It's the only Bing song I've banned.

I have always been interested in stereo versions of songs rather than the mono (just like I like colorized over b/w I suppose) version.  I have that Robert Parker CD "Song Hits From The Movies" and another one he did with Bing songs of the '30's stereofied.  When I saw your announcement today of the stereo version of White Christmas I thought it might have been Robert Parker's stereo version of White Christmas BUT it's NOT.  Parker stereofied the 1942 recording but this new guy stereofied the '47 version.  I have always liked the '47 version over the '42 version so I am thrilled with this latest development.  I would like to see this new guy put out a whole CD with nothing but a slew of stereofied Bings!   I love the stereo Parker versions so much I have them on my computer to play whenever they pop up in it's "Random" play mode of all songs I've downloaded there from CDs.

But with this new '47 stereo version I will gladly add this to my playlist.  Wow, I really hope he puts out a complete Bing stereo CD.

I have been critical in the past and so now I feel it is almost my duty to post this now.  I'm talking about the official Bing Crosby Internet "Radio" site.  For a long time they just kept playing the same shows over and over.  But for the past 6 months they have been playing shows I haven't heard before.  They seem to have some kind of pattern, they switch up their shows every year or so and then just replay them over and over till they decide after however long it takes them to switch to different shows.

They were repeatedly playing a few short Bing Crosby 15 min. shows a year or so ago but about 6 months ago they switched to a new batch and now they're playing (once again over and over) these 50 new 15 min. Bing shows from #s 401 to 450 all new to me and I'm happy they are playing them.  So I salute them for that.  Now if they can switch to a new batch of shows sooner than a year or 2 apart and publish a time schedule to inform you when shows are being played it would be perfect.  But progress is progress and it's going in the right direction.  So a tip of the Bing Hat to them.https://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/smile.png

You Tube is too censorship happy for me.  But Internet Archive is a place I learned about quite a while ago and I do love it there.

I have always wanted to post my Jean Shepherd collection of shows I taped years ago but have yet to figure out how.  I found a major Jean Shepherd website (Flicklives.com) and he was happy to post a lot of my shows but there are still a lot of shows I sent there that are still waiting to be posted.  But I do appreciate, at least, the shows they have posted under the "Fan Archives" banner.  One of these days when I run out of patience waiting for them all I'll have to figure out how to post them all at Internet Archive.

Thanks Mr. Mortel, always happy to hear from folks listening.   Glad you're enjoying the shows.  I'll be posting a new show every week, and in between sometimes I'll post a little extra from the Vast Library of Sound.  This new podcast site offers people 7 different "platforms" people can now listen in on, Spotify, Apple, Google Podcast and the others you see listed at the website, so I guess this makes it easier for people.  (Personally, I only use the website since I don't have a cell phone.  But most everyone today have cell phones so these extra Platforms are a good thing.)

I always really appreciate hearing from anyone listening, so glad you piped up.
