Finally acquired a complete set of the Chronological Bing Crosby, after several years of picking up individual volumes piece by piece.  And now have duplicates of 30 of them: 1-10;  12-21;  32-39;  50 + 51

£8 was the original selling price per volume I am told (which seems to work out to 10.82 USD.)  So that's what I'll ask.

If anyone would like to buy all 30 volumes, I'd throw in burned copies of the other 21 volumes (11,  22-31, 40-49).  They would be CD-rs in plain white envelopes, but at least the buyer would have the music.  *Will allow a few days to see if anyone would like to take up that offer before selling individually or breaking into smaller lots.*

NB - Please know that shipping from Canada is expensive.  Price to ship the lot to USA would be equivalent to $85.36 USD with insurance.  And to ship by airmail would be equivalent to  £142.50 GBP shipping with insurance.  A British buyer might prefer sea mail.

It does seem to be very difficult to collect a complete set of Chronological Crosbys.

Should have bought them all when they were in print, but I was low on funds at the time.  Managed to pick up 28 of them at a discount price on ebay and hoped to fill in the gaps as the others came on sale.

But years later, the same 28 volumes continue to be readily available, while the gaps continue to be difficult to fill.
Seems like volumes 1-10, 12-21 and 32-39 are often listed on ebay.
But volume 11 is as rare as hen's teeth, 22-31 are extremely scarce and 40-51 are infrequently available.

It makes one wonder if every volume was pressed in the same quantity.  Or if perhaps more copies were made of the frequently-available volumes but fewer copies of the rare ones?

Hello, Arch here from Toronto Canada.  Glad to have found this excellent Bing site!  As a child in the 1970s I first discovered Bing's music through the old black-and-white movies on TV.  (And the ear-splitting versions of his hits as rendered by Alfalfa in the Our Gang/Little Rascals comedies.)  Been a fan ever since!

From the title of the topic, was expecting to read that a Bing tune had been "sampled" in one of those awful "gangster rap" records!

Bing was also mentioned in the lyrics of a rock group, Sparks, back in 1974.  The song is called "Achoo."

"Who knows what the wind's gonna bring when the invalids sing
"La las" with a powerful sting that'll stop any opera or any Bing"

It seems to be about a woman leaving her gentleman friend to take up with a handsome doctor who has been caring for her. (?)  There sure is a lot of sneezing on the record!

Jasmine certainly has done a lot of great work.  I'm particularly grateful for their Ink Spots box.

Now that the CD era has pretty much come and gone, it's a little disheartening to look back and realise what a large percentage of the some performers' catalogues - including that of the Andrews Sisters - never made it to CD.

If the question had been asked of Bing a few decades earlier, perhaps Connee Boswell or Patty Andrews may have appeared on the list - surely he wouldn't have recorded so many duets with them if he didn't rate them rather highly?

Always wondered what Bing thought of Jimmy Wakely, "the Bing Crosby of country & western music."  Would he have been flattered or annoyed by Mr Wakely's similar vocal stylings?  Did he ever go on record with an opinion?
