Louis Armstrong 'Satchmo by Satchmo'

Louis is revealed as an 'early adopter' of tape recording here http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/worldfolkandjazz/8652104/Louis-Armstrongs-audio-diaries-hilarious-reflective-vindictive.html recording his personal diaries from, apparently 1950. A selection from them is to be broadcast by the BBC in a series from this coming Wednesday. It is said that he makes many comments about his contemporaries, some, it would seem, hilarious.

I'm sure Bing has to be in there somewhere. The BBC site here http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b012r9m6

The BBC usually keeps programmes available for playing over the internet for up to seven days after broadcast (but has sometimes extended this when broadcasts are part of a series).

Re: Louis Armstrong 'Satchmo by Satchmo'

This is somewhat on the same subject, but I found an article by Gary Giddins on how Bing met Louis Armstrong.

It might be of interest:
