Bing Recordings Listening To Now

I have an ancient by today's standards MP3 player that I listen to music to at work in between phone calls and meetings. I recently changed the songs to be all Bing Crosby recordings. I figured I would list the last five recordings that I heard....

1. Heart And Soul (radio recording)
2. She Is The Sunshine Of Virginia (from A Southern Memoir LP)
3. The Last Round Up
4.Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby (radio remote - without the Andrews Sisters)
5. Seven Nights A Week

What are the Bing recordings you are listening to now?

Re: Bing Recordings Listening To Now

Bings' 1944 radio recording of 'My blue Heaven' (on last Sunday's BBC radio program presented by Howard Leader), which I''d not heard before. I listen each week at my leisure because his programs are archived and often include a Bing record.

Re: Bing Recordings Listening To Now

Here are the last five recordings I have listened to just now:

1. Let's Do It Again (radio duet with Bob Crosby)
2. For You, For Me, Forevermore (radio recording)
3. Bye Bye Baby (radio duet with Al Jolson)
4. Summer Winds (from Seasons album)
5. Oh Look At Me Now (radio recording)

Let me know if you want me to keep posting what I'm listening to. I am up to 445 songs on my MP3. It's not even touching the surface of my collection!

I think I just discovered that recording as well this past summer. He does a great job on it.

Glad you're feeling better!

I won't be doing my list today. I added a few Bing records to my mp3 but when I added it, I deleted the 400 plus other songs! I still have them in my recycling bin of my home computer so I can get them back. It'll have to wait until tonight though!

It's a great CD issue - thank God for Sepia Records. They put out a lot of nice stuff!

Re: Bing Recordings Listening To Now

Lately I've been listening to Bing's 1960s album Sings the Great Country Hits, because I've been thinking about writing a piece for BING Magazine about it. It finds Bing embracing the Nashville Sound that was very popular in country music at the time, and it's a surprisingly effective album that hasn't gotten too much recognition.

I heard a rumor that Bing had a cold when he recorded the album. I'm not sure where I read that. I'll see if I can find the info out. I'll have to give a listen to it.

Re: Bing Recordings Listening To Now

The last Bing recordings I heard were from his Philco Radio Time program of 8 January 1947: 'Zipp a dee doo dah', 'Gotta get me someone to love', 'A gal in calico', 'Until the next time' (with Mickey Rooney), 'It's a good day' (with Peggy Lee) and 'For you, for me, for ever more'. Why did i listen to them? Greg Van Beek included the transcript of the program in his last NOSTALGIA RADIO TIME program.

That was a great show other than Mickey Rooney. I'm not a Mickey Rooney fan, but Bing was in great voice!

I know I've read that somewhere, too, but I am not sure where. I suppose it'll come up at some point as I keep doing some research for my article on the album. And yes, I do encourage you to give the album a listen. It's a pretty good one, though often overlooked!

Re: Bing Recordings Listening To Now

My favorite song on the album is Sunflower.

Although I am not a huge fan of country music, the song selections were good. Bing did seem a bit nasal on some of the songs though...
