Frank Wappat (1930-2014)

This was missed from earlier this year. British broadcaster and a big backer of nostalgia music, Frank Wappat died on his birthday.

When I used to exchange music with friends in Britain often I would get copies of Frank Wappat's show...always good.

David, thanks for pointing this out. I can't understand how we missed it.

Frank Wappat was a great fan of Bing and his radio shows had a large following among Bing's fans in the north east of England (the area covered by his broadcasts). Some of those fans, like your friend, David, shared copies of the shows with fans elsewhere.

Frank certainly played a great part in spreading knowledge and appreciation of Bing and other stars of the past among his audiences.

We did mention it BING #166 page 46 though.

I don't know how I missed that in the BING mag!

A couple of times I actually wrote to Frank and he mentioned my name once.

I wish there was a way to get copies of his radio shows. I miss hearing him.
